2013/11/14 Planning Commission MinutesROHNERT PARK PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES Thursday, November 14, 2013 The Planning Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in a regular session commencing at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 130 Avram Avenue, with Chairperson Adams presiding. Call To Order Chairperson Adams called the meeting of the regular session to order at approximately 6:00 p.m. with Chairperson Adams leading the pledge. Roll Call Present: (5) Commissioners: Chairperson Adams, Commissioner Blanquie and Commissioner Haydon, Commissioner Borba and Commissioner Giudice were present. Development Services Manager, Marilyn Ponton, Planner III, Jeff Beiswenger and Secretary, Suzie Azevedo were present. Development Services Manager, Marilyn Ponton, introduced and gave a brief background on the City's new Planner, Jeff Beiswenger. Declaration of None Abstention Acknowledgement of Chairperson Adams acknowledged the posting of the Agenda of this meeting in Public Noticing three (3) public places, per the requirements of the Brown Act. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Commissioner Haydon, seconded by Commissioner Blanquie to approve the October 24, 2013 minutes as presented. The motion passed with a 4-0-2 vote. (Commissioner Borba abstained). Unscheduled Public Appearances Revisions to Municipal Jeff Beiswenger, Planner III, presented the staff report. The City is in the process Code regarding Signage of updating the sign regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to simplify and streamline the regulations where possible, and strengthen provisions were PL2013-029MC needed. The update will also address new sign types and technologies that have emerged over the past several years and provide more enforceable sign code City of Rohnert Park provisions as well as create a more user-friendly code that is more readable and easier to understand and interpret. Mr. Beiswenger presented and gave a brief overview of the proposed changes and requested input and comment from the Commission. Discussion was held between the Commission and staff. Items from the Planning None. Commission Matters from Planning Due to Thanskgiving, the November 28 1h meeting has been cancelled.
