A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT
PARK, CALIFORNIA, FINDING THAT THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK VACATION
OF WILLIS AVENUE RIGHT-OF-WAY IS CONSISTENT WITH THE GENERAL
PLAN 2020
WHEREAS, the Wilfred Dowdell Specific Plan provides for the vacation of
undeveloped north -south right-of-way known as Willis or Bloom Avenue in favor of the
extension of Dowdell Avenue and a new east -west street also named Willis Avenue; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the east -west Willis Avenue has been constructed and serves
several properties in the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council under Resolution 92-118 has previously abandoned a
portion of north -south Willis Avenue, leaving the remaining right-of-way generally isolated
from connecting public rights-of-way; and
WHEREAS, the developer of the Sportsman's Warehouse project has been conditioned
to secure vacation of a portion of the Willis Avenue right-of-way in order to provide for adequate
parking on its site; and
WHEREAS, the developer of the Sportsman's Warehouse has provided a complete
application for vacating all of the remaining, remnant right-of-way which is consistent with the
Wilfred Dowdell Specific Plan; and
WHEREAS, at the June 23, 2015, Planning Commission meeting, upon hearing and
considering all testimony and arguments, if any, of all persons desiring to be heard, the
Commission considered all the facts relating to Planning Application No. PLCF2016-0001; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
ROHNERT PARK DOES RESOLVE: that the vacation of Willis Avenue right-of-way as
shown in Attachment A, attached hereto, is consistent with General Plan 2020 and incorporates
all information and comment provided at its June 23, 2015 public meeting as part of its finding,
including the staff report.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED on this 23rd day of June, 2015 by the City of
Rohnert Park Planning Commission by the following vote:
