SUBJECT: Tracking of Unassigned Patrol Equipment
PURPOSE: To establish a standard procedure for tracking equipment checked out b y patrol
officers each shift.
The following procedures outline the proper steps for tracking the unassigned equipment:
I. The patrol shift line-up card will be used dail y to track all equipment checked out
by patrol officers during their shift.
A. Each Sergeant or Acting Watch Commander (AWC) will track the
equipment used by personnel during each shift; such as MDC’s, EPAS’s,
AED’s, LiDAR, RADAR, etc…; by logging such equipment on the shift
line-up card.
B. When logging the patrol equipment, the Sergeant or AWC will list the number
assigned to, or serial number for each item the officer is checking out. All
available AED’s and EPAS’s will be deployed b y the patrol officers. If no
AED or EPAS is available for an officer, “N/A” will be listed next to that
officer’s name on the shift line-up.
C. A copy of the line-up card will be made and forwarded to dispatch. The
Sergeant or AWC will hold onto the original until the end of the shift. At the
end of the shift the Sergeant or AWC will verify the return of all equipment
prior to going off-duty. As the item is confirmed returned, the Sergeant or
AWC will initial in the misc. box. Once confirmed all equipment has been
returned the original line- up will be turned in to the Patrol Lieutenant for the
team.
D. Personnel working the cover shifts, or who do not make it to briefing to have
their equipment logged, must seek out the Sergeant or AWC to have them log
the equipment they have checked out to use for that shift. Additional copies do
not need to be forwarded to dispatch.
E. The patrol line-ups will be kept b y the Patrol Lieutenants for a period of three (3)
months, and then may be destroyed.
