Statement of Purpose: The purpose of this training is to provide the law enforcement officer
with the knowledge, skills and abilities to respond to a critical incident involving an active
shooter and effectively, appropriately and safely resolve the situation.
I. Learning Objectives
a. Students will explain and demonstrate the functions of contact, search, and rescue
teams
b. Students will explain and demonstrate proper search techniques as individuals and
a team
c. Students will explain and demonstrate the four fundamental rules of firearm
safety while in an active shooter environment
d. Students will explain and demonstrate proper verbal and radio communication
e. Students will explain and demonstrate proper use of force, taking into account
department policy and current laws.
