SUBJECT: FALSE ALARM TRACKING AND BILLING PROCEDURE
PURPOSE AND SCOPE: To efficiently and effectively enforce the Rohnert Park Municipal Codes
listed below.
Effective July 1, 2019 the City of Rohnert Park revised Municipal Code 9.65 Alarm Systems as
follows:
9.65.040 – Penalty for false alarms
1 false alarm per calendar year - $0,
2nd false alarm in calendar year $50,
3rd false alarm $100,
4th and more false alarms is $150 per occurrence- resets Jan 1.
9.65.050 – Grace Period – 30 days grace period for newly installed alarms
9.65.070 – Alarm System Registration Required - $30 new applications, $15 renewal by Jan 31
each year.
PROCEDURE:
I. Prepare List of Alarm Calls with BA disposition via Access Query Form
A. This task is performed currently by Dispatch staff but can be reassigned to another unit as
needed.
B. Searches are to be done weekly in order to notify violators within a reasonable time
period.
C. Query the appropriate dates (previous week)using Access program False Alarms, located
at: S:\Technical Services Division\Dispatch\Alarm Letters
D. Copy each applicable call to the facility’s record
E. Generate the pdf list and email to Finance
F. City Hall Finance staff will mail the false alarm letters to the appropriate recipient.
