“Crime Tips”Reporting System
In an effort to provide additional tools for the Department of Public Safety and the Community to work together to make Rohnert Park "The Safest City on the 101 Corridor" the department has created "crime tips".
What is Crime Tips?
"Crime Tips" provides a means for citizens to provide non-emergency information to the department on possible suspicious and/or criminal activity in their neighborhood anynymously via voicemail or via email.
Citizens will contact the department via The crime tips line at 707-584-COPS (2677) or they can email crimetips@rpcity.org to provide information on suspected suspicious and/or criminal activity occuring in their neighborhood.
Citizens should not use the Crime Tips system to report emergency sistuations or criminal activity that is in progress
How will Crime Tips be handled?
Sergeants will be responsible for checking the crime tips voicemail and email messages at least once during dayshift. A Sergeant will review and evaluate tips for validity. Sergeants will then assign valid crime tips to a patrol officers for investigation.
Officers assigned tips to investigate will via Dispatch create a call for service to provide a means to accurately track time spent by Officer investigating crime tips complaints and the results of those investigations.
How will we get the information out to the public?
An information link located on both the city website and the department of public safety website. Article in the city newsletter. Large posters in city buildings. Pamphlets placed in the lobby at various city buildings and businesses. Article in local newspapers.
