i•.inutes for July 24, 1961, Meeting:
• On July 24, 1961, at 7:30 p.m., the Rohnert Park Recreation Commission
met at 6950 Commerce Boulevard, Cotati, California, for their regular
bi-monthly public meeting. Commissioners present were: Boyd F. Bi.ce,
Norman Francisco, Mrs. Richard Cochran & Mrs. Wore F. Thiesfeld. Also,
in attendance was Mr. Peter Callanan, member of the Rohnert Park
Community Services District Board of Directors.
The minutes of the July 10th, 1961, Recreation Commission meeting were
read and approved. Outgoing and Incoming Correspondence was read.
The Incoming Correspondence from Kim 0. Roberts, Farm Advisor, University
of California, Agriculture Extension Service, was discussed. Mrs.
Thiesfeld was reouested to contact Mr. Roberts regarding his desire to
aid the Commission in their development of Alicia Park.
A Resume of the July 17, 1961, Community Services District meeting
was given by Norman Francisco. Mr. Francisco stated that the District
was advised of :r. Morris' resignation from the Commission and that
the District reruested the Commission submit to them a final Recreation
Budget for 1961-62.
A Treasurer 's Report was given by irs. Cochran. Balance in the Swim
Pool and Park Farad at that time was :2,865.00.
No outstanding bills were presented for payment.
iUnder Old Business:
The Bike Rack Report was given by Boyd Bice who stated that he would
contact Mr. Jim Rogers of the Rohnert Park Active 20-30 Club and secure
cost estimates on the project. The Commission ruled that the estimate
should not exceed 250.00.
The 1961-62 Recreation Commission Budget was next discussed. Revision
of the 20,000.00 Preliminary Budget was completed. The Preliminary
Budget was cut to $19,180.00. A motion was made by firs. Cochran and
seconded by :ems. Thiesfeld that the 19,180.00 1961-62 Recreation Budget
be adopted by the Commission. The motion was carried.
Recreation Activities were next reported on by Mrs. Thiesfeld who stated
that there still had been no response from the community to assist in a
monthly recreation program. Mrs. 'Thiesfeld was renuested to work on a
specific recreational activity for the near future involving the
teenagers in Rohnert Park.
The Alicia Park Swim Pool Report was given by i-rs. Cochran. She advised
that Mr. Anderson, the pool manager recuested 30 or 40 additional bags
for use by the public for personal belongings and that hr. Anderson
had located some of these bags at Morton's, who had a surplus of un-used

bags and would sell them for .-2.50 each. The Commission gave authority
to Mr. Anderson to purchase the bags. Bids for a chain link fence for
the Swim Pool front were discussed.. rids had been received from San
Jose Steel Co., Inc. and Anchor Fence. These bids were incomplete and
the secretary was instructed to write these companies for more accurate
bids. Imo. Cellanan advised that Norman Spivak, Rohnert Park developer,
was interested in donating the chain link fence upon review of the
approved bid.
Report on Alicia Park Swim Pool Concessions was next given by Boyd Bice.
Mr. Bice stated that the contract with the concessionaire had not as yet
been concluded. Ix'. Nice will report further on the matter at the next
meeting.
Development of the 1st 1/3 of Alicia Park was reported by Boyd Bice,
Mr. Bice stated he would receive an engineering plan the next day and
would immediately begin work on securing bids for the development. .s.

Alicia Park Community Building was next discussed. i irs. Cochran was
renuested to investigate the possible financing for the building and
to call a special meeting before the next regular Recreation Commission
if the investigation was favorable.
Under New Business:
The replacement of a Recreation Commissioner was discussed. The
Chairman asked that each Commissioner bring anyone interested, to the
next meeting.
The Commission approved light green, the color used on the newly painted
portion of the Alicia Park Swim Fool, as the official "park color".
Report on the College View Boys Club Little League was not given by
Mr. rarrigan due to his being on vacation and washeld over til next
meeting. The vandalism done to the Little /,eague dugouts was brought
up. The secretary was instructed to write the College View Boys Club
and advise that the Commission was aware of the occurence and wished
the club to advise on the matter.
The secretary was renuested to provide a copy of the Recreation Commis-
sion Meeting Minutes to the Rohnert Park Press to the attention of
Betty Sibilia or Alex Kaye.

The Recreation Commission changed the starting time of their meetings
from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
