1961/08/28 Other Minutes RCHNERT PARK RECREATION COMMISSION Minutes for August 28, 1961, Meeting: On August 28, 1961, at 8:00 p.m., the Rohnert Park Recreation Commission met at 6950 Commerce Boulevard, Cotati, California, for their regular bi-monthly public meeting. Commissioners present were: Boyd F. Bice, Norman Francisco, Jim Harrigan, Elizabeth Cochran and Nancy Thiesfeld. The minutes of August 14, 1961, were read and approved after correction was made. Correction was: "the Little League would provide trash containers for their refreshment stand next year". outgoing correspondence was read and approved. Incoming correspondence consisted of a letter from "`.?'he Fact Finding Committee on Incorporation of Rohnert Park and Cotati". Mr. Rice advised that he would answer this letter by a personal contact. A resume of the August 21, 1961, Community Services District Meeting pertaining to Recreation was given by 1.rs. Thiesfeld. She advised that the 1961-62 Recreation Commission Budget of. 19,180.00 was approved and that the District approved the Recreation Commission recommendation to accept Ortega's bid of '"5,046.00 for development of the first third of Alicia Park. No outstanding bills were presented, for payment. Treasurer's Report was given by Mrs. Cochran. Under Old Business: Discussion was held with the pool concessionaire for June & July. A motion was made by Mr. Bice and 2nd by Jim Harrigan to accept 1,l31.79 from the concessionaire and release him from any previous committments. Motion was carried. The Bike Rack report was given by Mrs. Cochran. She stated the bike racks would be completed in one week. She also stated a picture would be taken of the racks for the Rohnert Park Press. The 1961-62 Recreation Budget Report was given by Mrs. Thiesfeld. She stated the Rohnert ?ark Community Services District approved the Budget in amount of "`.19,180.00. Development of the 1st 1/3 of Alicia Park was reported on by Mr. Bice and Mlr. Carpenter, District fksigineer. Mr. Bice stated that the Rohnert Park Community Services District approved the Commission's recommendation to accept the bid in amount of $5,046.00, low bid by Ortega. He stated development will start August 31, 1961. Mr. Carpenter, District engineer, stated that construction would take approximately 10 days. Mr. Carpenter presented the Commission a copy of the contract executed by Mr. Ortega and the Rohnert nark Community Services District. Mr. Carpenter renuested the Commission arrange for barricades to block the entrance and exit in front of the pool to preserve his engineering stakes. Page 2 1110 Inutes for August 28, 1961 The matter of Chain Link Fencing was held over til the next meeting. The matter of the Alicia Park Community Building was held over til next meeting, pending the report of the District Attorney regarding financing. Replacement of a Commissioner was discussed and each member was recuested to recruit an interested party in an attempt to fill the vacancy on the Commission. Mrs. ``hiesfeld advised that all bills pertaining to Recreation would be approved by the Commission and referred to the Districtfor their approval and payment. Under New Business: Mrs. Cochran advised that a picture was taken of Mr. Bice, Mr. Francisco and Mrs. Cochran infront of the pool to publicize the present development of Alicia Park. The Commission met with 1r. & Mrs. John Downey representing the College 411 View Boys Club. Discussion was held pertaining to the affect of development of Alicia Park on the Little League Ball Diamond. The Commission was advised that the Boys Club is desireous of having their own land for ball diamonds and club house. The Commission was requested to aid the Boys Club in securing a permanent location for their activities.
