Minutes for October 23, 1961, fleeting:
On October 23, 1961, at 8:00 p.m., the Rohnert Park Recreation Commission
met at 6950 Commerce Boulevard, Cotati, California, for their regular bi-
monthly public meeting. Commissioners present were: Jim Harrigan, Boyd
Bice, Norman Francisco, Elizabeth Cochran and Nancy Thiesfeld.
The minutes of October 9th, 1961, were read and approved.
Outgoing and Incoming correspondence were read and approved.
Outstanding Bills were p'-esented and approved for payment.
Treasurer's report was not given.
Resume of last District Meeting pertaining to Recreation was given by
Boyd Bice and he stated the District approved the following:
1. Payment of !!!75.00 for concrete paving between Alicia Park and John
Reed School.
2. Installation of 2 street lights at corners of Alicia Park Swimming
Pool.
Under Cld Business:
Tiny tots area discussion was held over until the next meeting.
1111/ Replacement of a Commissioner was held over until next meeting.
Chain Link Fencing was discussed. Mrs. Thiesfeld advised that the fence
should be installed before October 31st. Mr. Francisco advised the estimate
for fencing the area from the bathhouse toward the east property line
would be 35.00 to 60.00.
Development of the 1st 1/3 of Alicia Park was discussed. Bill Wiggins
will be contacted by Mr. Francisco to work with Mr. Carpenter, District
Engineer, to see that the work is carried out according to the contract.
Welcome to Sonoma State College was reported on by Mrs. Thiesfeld. She
advised that the following organizations were interested in participating:
1. Golis & Fredericks 2. College View Boys Club 3. Rohnert Park
Women's Association 4. Community Services District. 5. Active 20-30
Club. Mr. Higgins of the 20-30 Club stated he would contact the College
and get their feeling on such an event and he would report to the
Commission Secretary in the next few days.
The Alicia Park Community Building was next discussed. Mrs. Cochran
reported that the John Reed School could provide no kitchen facilities and
no storage space. Also the school would not allow teenage dances and no
paid admittance funct'ons. Mr. Jim Harrigan was appointed to take charge
of co-ordinating the study on the Community Building. The District was
• requested to provide the commission with the proposed needs in the
Community Building by the Commission's next meeting.
Under New Business:
Vandalism was discussed.

"'hA Secretary was requested to write to Art Luddy, Landscape Department,
501 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento, California, in further pursuit of land-
scaping the Ilravenstein Hwy. Interchange.
The College View Boys Club was represented at the meeting and advised
they would like to lease approximately 5 acres in the proposed "B"
Neighborhood Park. Mr. Downie of the College View Boys Club will contact
the Commission's Secretary in a few days and advise the exact amount
of land needed. He also advised that the Skin Diving Program was greeted
with a lack of interest but that the Boys Club will further attempt to hold
the event.
