Minutes for December 11„ 1961, Meeting:
On December 11th, 1961, at 8 :00 p.m., the Rohnert Park Recreation
Commission met at 6950 Commerce Boulevard, Rohnert Park, California,
for their regular bi-monthly public meeting. Commissioners present were:
James E. Harrigan, Dewayne Strawther, Donald Davis, George &dress,
Robert Swanson and Nancy Thiesfeld.
Minutes of November 27th, 1961, were read and approved. Outgoing and
Incoming correspondence were read. No outstanding bills were presented.
Treasurer's report was not given.
Resume of last District Meeting pertaining to recreation wasgiven by Lr.
Harrigan who reportedthe following:
1. District approvedincrease of Commission to 7 members to include Mr.
George Endress and Mr. Robert Swanson.
2. District attorney contacted Alicia Park Swimming Pool regarding
bankruptcy and has received no reply to date.
Discussion of Landscaping the Gravenstein Interchange was held in view of
the incoming correspondence on same. Commission requested Don Davis to
contact the Rohnert Park Active 20-30 Club to ask if they would obtain
a petition for landscaping the interchange which would be sent to the
California State Division of Highways.
Under Old Business:
Developmentof theTiny Tots Area of Alicia Park was tabled until such time
as the Rohnert Park women'sClub contacts the Commission for a place
on their Agenda. Above was put in form of a motion by Dewayne Strawther
and 2nded by Nancy Thiesfeld.
.Ielcome to Sonoma State College was discussed. Mr. Harrigan gave a resume
of the organizing thus far.
Development of Alicia Park was next discussed. Mr. Strawther advised per
his investigation that it would be possible at any time for the College
View Boys Club to begin work on the ball diamond to be used by the Little
league, since there would be no need for additional overall fill in that
area. The Commission eas in agreement with a conditional contract being
drawn up by the District's attorney setting forth specific requirements to
be met by the College View Boys Club if they are to use the area. These
requirements are to cover the preparation of the area and. restoring of
the area, should the Little League abandon the ball diamond for another
area. The secretary was instructed to make arrangements for the contract
and advise the College View Boys Club of same.
Appointment of new members and setting of their terms was the final
point of Old Business. The new members were welcomed to the Commission
and terms of 2 and 3 years were drawn. Reailtsof the drawing were:
George Endress 2 years and Robert Swanson 3 years.

Under New Business:
1962 Swim Pool Rates were briefly discussed and tabledfor further discussion
at the next regular meeting.
Monthly Recreational Activities were discussed and Mr. Endressand is. Swanson
were appointed by the Chairman to plan the 1962 schedule for monthly recreational
activities to be presented at the next regular meeting.
Date for the next regular meeting was set for December 28, 1961, Thursday.
Usual Meet;.ng date was changed as it fell on Christmas Day.
Under Special Business:
Discussion washeld on the Alicia Park Community Building. A revised
tenative plan was presented for review. Copiesof A. Ti Haman's speedh
on "Passing Bond Issues" were given each Commissioner for study. The Commission
felt ;*neater study on the Community Building was needed and called a special
meeting to be held December 18, 1961, 8:00 at the home of Dewayne Strawther,
7866 Burton Avenue, Rohnert Park, for the purposeof detailed discussion on
the Alicia Park Community Building.
