Minutes for December 28th, 1961, Meeting:
On December 28th, 1961, at 8:00 p.m., the Rohnert ?ark Recreation
Commission met at 6950 Commerce Boulevard, Rohnert Park, California, for
their regular bi-monthly public meeting. Commissioners present were:
James Harrigan, George Endress, Robert Swanson, Dewayne Strawther, Norman
Francisco, and Nancy Thiesfeld.
Minutesof December 11, 1961, were not read as per motion by Dewayne
Strawther and 2nded by James Harrigan. Outgoing and Incoming Correspondence
were read. Outstanding bills were presented and approved for payment.
Invoice from Zellerbach for paper plates, etc. for Sonoma State Welcome
was presented and secretary was requested to forward same to Boyd Bice,
Chairman of "Welcome". Secretary was instructed to check with District
regarding payment of refreshment 14_ 11 for Organizational Meeting for
Sonoma State College Welcome.
Resume of District Meeting was given by Norman Francisco. He stated the
Board publically thanked Alicia Horns for donating the fence for Alicia
Park Swimming Pool.
Treasurer's Report was not given.
110 Under Old Business:
Welcome to Sonoma State College was discussed. The Secretary was in-
structed to contact Boyd Bice and request his attendance at the next
Recreation Meeting for the purpose of giving a financial report on the
Welcome.
Development of Alicia Park was discussed with several representatives of
the College View Youth Club. The topic of conversation was the use of
the ball diamond in Alicia Park. The Commission advised that an agreement
would be drawn up for signature by the Youth Club. The secretary was
instructed to make copies of the agreement and furnish same to Mr. A. P.
i1heumer of the College View Youth Club and Mr. James Harrigan. Mr.
Harrigan was appointed to discuss the a¢recmnt with a representative of
the Youth Club and execute the agreement. The Agreement was then composed
by the Commission and accepted by motion of Dewayne Strawther which was
2nded by James Harrigan.
1962 Swim Pool Rates were next discussed. Mr. Ehdress volunteered to
contact some Santa Rosa Pools regarding their rates particularly Student
Rates. A motion was made by Mr. Strawther and 2nded by Mr. Swanson,
to devote the entire 2nd Meeting of February to setting of 1962 Pool Rates.
Monthly Recreational Activities were reported by Mr. Ehdress and Mr. Swanson.
A bowling activity was tentatively set for late February. The secretary
was instructed to make a list for "sign up" and forward same to Mr. Strawther
• for further handling. The activity will be free bowling instruction (shoes
provided) for children 12-17.

Landscaping of ('avenstein In erchange was held over until the next meeting.
Under New Business:
Mr. Strawther proposed the formation of a Rohnert Park Athletic Association
which would provide recreation on the young adult level. The Commission
tabled the matteruntil such time as a Community Building would be available.
The Tiny Tots Area was discussed and the secretary was instructed to
contact the Rohnert Park Women's Association to request their presence at the
January 8th, 1961, Recreation Meeting and request their presentation of
definate ideas for development of the area.
Under Special Business:
The Alicia Park Community Building was held over until the next meeting
at which time a perspective drawing and plan would be presented.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
