October 22, 1968
The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in
adjourned session at the City Offices, 435 Southwest Blvd.,
Rohnert Park, at 8-.00 p.m. with Mayor Roberts presiding.
Call to Order Mayor Roberts called the meeting to order at 8000 p.m.
Roll Call Present: (3) Councilmen Rogers, Smith and RobertAs
Absent-. (2) Councilman Buchanan and Hcpkins

"College Golf Team Upon motinn by Councilman Rogers, seconded by Councilman
Smith, and unanimously approved, Sonoma State College was
granted complimentary use of,the Rohnert Park Municipal
Golf Course Monday thru Fridays for their golf team and
golf classes.
File 0082 - Council reviewed for architectural approval the plans sub -
Convenience Market mitted by Mr. Paul Golis for the convenience market and
and Pharmacy pharmacy on Southwest Boulevard, for which a use permit
has been granted. Councilman Smith -raised several ques-
tions concerning the interior floor plan of the proposed
building, including the wall separating the pharmacy and
market so that it doesn't provide, in his opinion, the
"free flow" that -`he Council previously indicated the struc-
ture should have. He indicated that the plans were not in
accordwnce with the concept for the convenience market and
pharmacy that he originally approved. Mr. Golis commented
and reviewed -;he history of the use permit application. A
brief discussion followed, upon the conclusion of which the
matter was deferred until the November 4th meeting.
November Bond. Issue A lengthy discussion was held concerning the park and
recreation development general obligation bond measure
that has been placed on the November ballot. Members of
the Recreation Commission present and participating in the
discussion with the Council were Don Davis, George Geister,
Ron Rasmussen, Hares Hunter and Dr. Peterson. Also present
and participating was Tom West, Recreation Director; Mrs.
Nancy Thiesfeld, and Mrs. Peterson, members of the Cultural
Arts Commission. Several citizens were also present and
participated in the lengthy discussion.
The main point of the discussion was how the funds -the
measure would provide would be used, and whether., or not
the model for Benecia Park, as prepared by Dr. Peterson,
would in fact require the development of the pack in that
manner. It was generally agreed that the bond issue would
provide sufficient funds to develop a leisure park as well
as provide additional reerbational fan.ilities.
A resolution urging a yes vote on Proposition No. 0 which is

the ballot designation of the bond measure was presented
and discussed® Councilman Smith indicated that he would
like to have the addition placed in the resolution that the
number one priority of the bond measure would be the lei-
sure park with the residual funds being used to improve
and expand existing recreation improvements and with the
understanding that bonds authorized by the measure mould
be issued in increments as ih a subject projects are approved
by the Council. Other members of the Council indicated

Upon motion by Councilman Rogers, seconded by Councilman
Smith, and unanimously approved, Resolution No. 68-123 was
adopted.

Upon motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman
Rogers ancl. unanimously approved, the Council approved the
furnishingo suggested by Vb?. Simons, and as modifi.od daax°in -p
the Council discussion, and authorized the calling for bids
on the furnishings.
