1969/06/30 City Council MinutesROHNERT,PARK CITY COUNCIL MINUTES June 30, 1969 The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in adjourned regular session at 8 -.00 p.m. in the City Offices, 435 Southwest Boulevard, Rohnert Park, California, with Mayor Rogers presiding. Call to Order Mayor Rogers called the meeting to order at approximately 8 :10 p.m. Roll Call Presents Councilmen Buchanan, Hopkins, Roberts, Smith and Rogers Absents None Staff Present: Recreation Commission members Rasmussen and Hunter, and Newspaper Correspondent Jane Faust 1969 -70 Budget City Manager Callinan made brief comments concerning the Proposed Budget for 1969 --70 submitted to the Council. He explained the budget format. He indicated that additional information would be provided on salaries; and wages.; Revenues City Manager Callinan reviewed the Anticipated Revenues Budget section "of the budget. Upon conclusion of the review the Council indicated that they had no comments or changes to suggest in the Anticipated Revenues section of the 1969-70 budget. Public Works City Manager Callinan reviewed; the preliminary, budget for Budget Public Works. A discussion was held between the Council, Mr, Callinan and Mr. Wiggins concerning the Public Works Budget and activities. upon motion by Councilman Hopkins, seconded by Councilman Roberts, and unanimously approved, the City Council gave tentative approval to the Public Works Proposed Budget for 1969 -70, Golf Course City Manager Callinan reviewed the preliminary budget for Budget the golf course. He indicated that the amounts budgeted for the operation of the pro, shop anticipated a new con- tract with Bob Porter. A discussion was held concerning the golf course operations. Upon motion by Councilman Buchanan, seconded by Councilman Hops+ and unanimously approved the City Council gave tentative approval to the Golf Course Proposed Budget for 1969 -70. Parks & Recreation' City Manager Callinan reviewed the preliminary budget for Budget Parks .& Recreation. Recreation Commission Chairman Rasmussen and Commissioner Hunter were present and discussed the Recreation Commission's budget recommendations. ,A lengthy discussion was held concerning the desirability of having a full -time year around Reereaticn..Airector. A die- Grand Jury Adjournment .93 for the Alicia Park Announcer's & Concession Building. Councilman Hopkins initiated a brief discussion concerning the procedure used in choosing the Grand Jury and the ad- visability'of Rohnert 'Park making the Superior Court judges aware of Rohnert Parkle interest in having Rohnert Park citizens represented on the Grand Jury. A discussion was also held concerning the use Of Capital Improvement Funds included in the Recreation budget. The Council indicated to the Commission members present that the Commission should work up a program, and if additional funds over and above those included in the budget are necessary, they should feel free to approach the Council, but they should have the comprehensive program prepared first. A discussion was held on several of the items contained there*' Upon motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Roberts, and unanimously approved, the City Council gave tentative approval to the General Government Proposed Budget for`1969 =70. Jr. High. Baseball A discussion was 'held ooncerning the need for a regulation Field size baseball diamond in the community. The Council direct- ed the City Manager to prepare an appropriate resolution of the Council requesting the Petaluma School District to improve the baseball field at the Rohnert Park Junior High ..:: School. Alicia Park City Manager Callinan' presented a bill from George Andersen ..vrac:a�aa�vza g in the amount of '` 9681.93 for costs incurred to construct the Alicia Park Announcer's and Concession Building. He pointed out that this amount was in excess of the $500.00 allocated to Mr. Andersen for "the project. He further ad- vised that the billing from Mr. Andersen only included material and that no labor`of'Mr. Andersen's or his helpers was included therein. Upon motion by Councilman Buchanan, seconded by Councilman Smith, and unanimously approved, the Council approved for payment the bill from 'Mr. George Andersen in the amount of 1$681 Grand Jury Adjournment .93 for the Alicia Park Announcer's & Concession Building.
