August 31, 1978
The City Council of`the City of Rohnert Park met this date
in adjourned regular' commencing at 4:00 p.m. in
the City Offices, 6750 Commerce Boulevard, Rohnert Park,
with Mayor Hopkins presiding.
Call to Order Mayor Hopkins called the meeting of the adjourned regular
session-to order at approximately 4:10 p.m. and led the
pledge of allegiance.
Roll Call Present: (3) Councilmen Beary, Stewart and Hopkins
Absent: (2) Councilmen Carbone (who was attending a Sonoma
County Solid Waste Management and Resource
Recovery Committee meeting) and Roberts
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: City Manager
Callinan and Director of Public Works /City Engineer Brust
Resolution No. 78 -114 RESOLUTION OF A14ARD OF CONTRACT (Rancho Cotate High School
Football Field and Rohnert Park Junior High School Soccer
Field Light ing, Project No. 1978 -15)
City Manager Callinan reviewed the bids received and explained
the resolution which would award the contract for the installa-
tion of the high school stadium lights but hold in abeyance
the junior highlights bid.for possible award at a later
date. Discussion followed.
Upon motion of.Councilman-Beary, seconded by Councilman
Stewart; and urianiinously approved;` reading of Resolution
No. 78 -114 was waived and said resolution was adopted.
Resolution No. 78 -115 RESOLUTION CALLING FOR SEALED PROPOSALS (Park Club Apartment,
Storm Drainage)
City Manager Callinan explained the resolution.
Upon motion of Councilman Beary, seconded by Councilman
Stewart, and unanimously approved, reading of Resolution
No. 78 -115 was waived and said resolution was adopted.
Small Claims Court City Manager Callinan informed that the judge of the small
Ruling re. Scott claims court had made a ruling in favor of Scott Coletti
Coletti concerning payment for sick leave. Discussion followed.
National League of City Manager Callinan advised that the National League
Cities Conference of Cities would hold its 1973 Congress of Cities and Exposition
from November 26 to 29 in St. Louis.
Upon motion of Mayor Hopkins, seconded by Councilman Beary,
and unanimously approved, the City Council authorized staff
to make reservations for those Council members desiring
to attend the 1978 Congress of Cities and Exposition in
St. Louis.

City Manager Callinan informed that the September 14th
Mayors' and Councilmen's Association of Sonoma County meeting
had been,postponed to October.12th..
City Manager Callinan informed that a luncheon would be
held on September 15th in honor of Bill Wiggins, retired
Supt. of Public Works, can which occasion his portrait would
be hung ,in a prominent location J.,n the City Offices.
City Manager Callinan informed that a luncheon would be
held on September 5th in order to present former Councilman
David Eck with the CounciV s resolution of appreciation.
Mayor Hopkins coum -ented on a lettexr.which he sent Judge
Kiernan Hyland concerning enforcing state vehicle code
regulations per tain
ing.to bicycle safety.
Councilman Beary inquired abp�it the. "No Bicycles" signs
posted near the railroad tracks,•westbound on Southwest
Boulevard.
.City Engineer Brust informed that the signs had been installed
upon the recomendation o.f.the Traffic Enforcement Division.
Councilman Stewart initiated a „discussion concerning Assembly -
man Wornum's response Ito -a letter from Mayor Hopkins regarding
SB, 1164.
There being no further business', Mayor Hopkins adjourned
the meeting at approximately 4:35 P.M.
