Hazel Brubaker Mrs . Brubaker stated that she had a waiting
list of people wanting meals and that she did
S not have enough drivers to accommodate
everyone . With the money the Council was
assisting them with, they would be able to
pay their drivers twenty-one cents a mile to
deliver meals . Since these people volunteer
their time and use their own cars , the
Council on Aging feels it appropriate to
reimburse them for the gas they use.
Senior Center Mrs . Brubaker also reported that she had
visited the Healdsburg Senior Center and felt
that it was not really adequate . She said
she had been invited by the Director of the
Senior Center Program in Berkeley and was
planning to go there to see their facilities .
She plans to visit Fort Bragg also and will
be prepared to deliver a report on the
centers at the next meeting.
Chairman Chase recognized Betty Ferra who
stated she had already visited the Berkeley
centers and found them to be very nice but
parking is a problem.
Mrs . Brubaker asked that the Commission wait
411 until the next meeting before making any
recommendations so that she can visit the
various centers and report back on her
findings .
The late

Daisy Dolby Chairman Chase said that with the passing of
Daisy Dolby, he felt it would be appropriate
to honor her memory and recognize her work
with the Seniors . He asked if anyone had any
ideas as to what the Commission could do?
Betty Ferra suggested a plaque . After a
short discussion Administrative Assistant
Fabio was instructed to proceed with getting
an appropriate plaque and having it hang in
the City Offices and eventually have it hang
in the Senior Center.
Commission
Vacancy Chairman Chase also announced that

Nutrition Hazel Brubaker advised the Commission that a
wheelchair was available at the dining site
and had already been used on two occasions .
Mrs . Brubaker told the Commission that she
had purchased dinnerware and glassware out of
her own pocket for the dining site . She felt
that it would help to get away from the
institutionalized feeling . She added that
using glassware instead of styrofoam also
contributed to a more home-like atmosphere .
She said she had been given a camera that she
was going to raffle off so she could recoup
the expense of the dinnerware which came to
approximately $200 .
Mrs . Brubaker also reported that she may lose
her kitchen help at the dining site . This
position is funded under Title V. She asked
for any suggestions as to what to do . This
position has helped the site increase their
productivity.
HR 2470 Chairman Chase read an article which reported
on the Catastrophic Care bill HR 2470 . This
bill provides for $33 billion dollars over
the next 5 years . The bill which was to
provide seniors with long-term illness ' s
relief from the high cost of health care is
not what it was suppose to be . AARP co-
sponsored the bill and this article felt that
they had been mislead . Only surgical and

to benefit from this legislation . The
