March 16 , 1989
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this
date in regular session commencing at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City
Hall , 6750 Commerce Boulevard, Rohnert Park, with Chairman Chase presiding.
Call to Order Chairman Chase called the regular session to order at
approximately 3:01 p.m. and led the pledge of allegiance.
Present: (4) Commissioners Kennedy, Lyons, Jurgicl and
Chairman Chase .
Absent: (1) Commissioner Jennis.
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Administrative
Assistant Caroline Fabio and the secretary.
Approval of
Minutes Upon a motion by Commissioner Kennedy, seconded by
Commissioner Lyons with all present in favor, the Minutes of
February 16, 1989 were approved as submitted.
Announcements by
Chairman Commissioner Kennedy read correspondence received from Senator
Pete Wilson and from ARPP concerning recent catastrophic
health legislation.
Caroline Fabio
Leaves At approximately 3:03 p.m. , Administrative Assistant Caroline
Fabio left the meeting.
Caroline Fabio
Returns At approximately 3:06 p.m. , Administrative Assistant Caroline
Fabio rejoined the meeting and introduced Mr. Michael Crice,
the City's Theatre Manager.
Michael Crice Mr. Crice stated that he hopes he can attend some of the
Commission's meetings in the future and that he welcomes input
from the seniors. He added that it is a pleasure to be
working for the City and community. At approximately 3:10
p.m. , Mr. Crice left the meeting.
Communications Chairman Chase read a letter from Mayor Charlie Cochran to
Milt Freer thanking him and Transworld Systems for a recent
donation.
Coals Chairman Chase inquired if the Commissioners had any specific
goals they wanted to set for 1989 and they had none in
411 particular. Mr. Chase commented that Commissioner Jennis is
involved in the issue of residential care and low-cost
housing, which he agrees is a nationwide problem.

Daisy Dolby
Plaque Caroline Fabio presented a plaque in memory of the late
Commissioner Daisy Dolby to Chairman Chase who thanked the
City. This plaque will hang in the City Council Chambers
until a suitable location is chosen at the Codding Center
building.
Residential
Care The scheduled speaker on residential care was rescheduled for
the next meeting of the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission.
Matters from
Commissioners -
Marin Humane
Society Commissioner Kennedy read a letter from the Marin Humane
Society regarding their program for home delivered meals for
seniors' pets. She commented that some seniors give some of
the meals to their animal(s) and that it would be nice to be
able to provide for the seniors' pets too. Chairman Chase
remarked that it sounds like a worthwhile program. He added
that perhaps Commissioner Kennedy could write the Marin Humane
Society for details on the program and she indicated that she
would.
Commissioner Lyons stated that some low-cost housing areas
charge seniors more if they have pets, which annoys him.
aIn some cases, a $500 deposit is required from seniors with
pets.
General Plan
Review Committee
Selection Chairman Chase read the letter requesting a member of the
Commission be selected to serve on the General Plan Review
Committee . Commissioner Lyons made a motion to select
Commissioner Jennis as the representative and Commissioners
Kennedy and Jurgiel commented that Commissioner Jennis would
not be interested because she's already so busy. The motion
died for lack of a second.
Upon a motion by Chairman Chase , seconded by Commissioner
Jurgiel with all those present in favor, Commissioner Kennedy
was selected to be the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission
Representative to the General Plan Review Committee and she
accepted.
Meetings Every
Other Month Administrative Assistant Caroline Fabio requested that the
Commission hold its meetings every other month and they agreed
provided they can have an informal meeting during the months
when formal meetings are not scheduled. Ms . Fabio stated she
would check into the legalities of the proposed informal
• meetings .

Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further
desiring to be heard, Commissioner Lyons made a motion,
seconded by Commissioner Kennedy to adjourn the meeting of the
Rohnert Park Senior Citizens Advisory Commission at
approximately 3:36 p.m.
