The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park
met this date in regular session commencing at 3:00 p.m. in the
Council Chambers at City Hall , 6750 Commerce Boulevard, Rohnert Park,
with Chairman Chase presiding.
Call to Order Chairman Chase called the regular session to order at approximately
3:00 p.m. and led the pledge of allegiance.

Present: (4) Commissioners Kennedy, Lyons, Jennis and
Chairman Chase
Absent: (1) Commissioner Jurgiel
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Secretary, Lillian
Brooks.
Approval of
Minutes Upon a motion by Commissioner Kennedy. seconded by Commissioner
Jennis, with all present in favor, the January 18, 1989, was
approved.

Posting of
the Agenda Chairman Chase stated that the Secretary had posted the Agenda as
required by law in three (3) public locations within the time period
required.

Mary Hanlon
Senior Boutique Ms . Hanlon informed the Board that the Senior Boutique will be in the
Codding Center. The actual management of the Boutique is still being
discussed between Evelyn Kim and Joe Netter. Ms. Hanlon advised that
the Boutique will have new Bylaws and Rules and Regulations. Board
members will be from Rohnert Park. The only exception to this will
be if there are not enough volunteers to serve on the Board, then
outsiders will be sought within Sonoma County. Discussion followed.

Senior Net Wendy Audiss , Recreation Coordinator, reported on the Senior Drop-in
Center and various functions happening in the area. Ms. Audiss
advised that the Senior Net System at the Codding Center has a
committee of volunteers dedicted to seeking funds and support through
the local businesses. There has been a lot of community response.
Are You OK? Wendy Audiss reported that the Are You OK? program is working very
well and advised those in attendance that there were a few
Commissioners volunteering to work the system. Ms. Audiss informed
the Commission that applications for the Are You OK? program can be
obtained at the Senior Drop In Center. Currently there are
approximately thirty-eight (38) seniors enrolled in the system.
Discussion followed.
Senior Point Wendy Audiss informed the Commission that approximately fifty (50)
people attended the seminar. Ms . Audiss advised that free legal
advise is given every Tuesday at the Drop-In Center, and free
financial advise is given on the third Monday of the month also at
the Senior Center.

Meals on
Wheels Hazel Brubaker, Senior Nutrition Site Coordintor, was recognized by
Chairman Chase . Ms. Brubaker enthusiastically informed the
• Commission that the daily count is constantly going up.
Approximately 1500 meals were served last month.
Boutique Evelyn Kim was recognized by Chairman Chase. Mc - 't_ i_

$13,098. The craft shop has great potential and could make a good
profit with a well organized Board behind it. Ms. Kim stressed that
the Board members should not be restricted to just Rohnert Park
residents. Discussion followed.
Matters from Ms. Kim informed the Commission that during the 20 months of operation,
Commissioners the Boutique handled approximately $40,000, of which $27,000 went to
onsignees and $13,000 went to pay the rent and utilities.
Senior Drop-
In Center Commissioner Jennis informed the Commission that the daily average
attendance for the Drop-In Center for the Month of January was 75.
Calculation for this was derived from 2025 visitors within 27 working
days . Commissioner Jennis also informed the Commission that there
were eleven (11) new seniors visiting for the month of January and
fifteen (15) new seniors for the month of December.
Commissioner Ann Kennedy read the By-Laws for the Senior Advisory
Committee.

MOTION A motion was made by Commissioner Jennis, seconded by Commissioner
Lyons, with all in favor, that the By-Laws be read every six months.
Chairman Chase requested that everyone reach out a little further to
get seniors to attend these meetings . He also would like some input
from the Community as to what is their interest. Discussion
followed.

Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further
desiring to be heard, Chairman Chase adjourned the meeting of the
Rohnert Park Senior Citizens Advisory Commission at approximately
3:55 p.m.
