1991/04/18 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes CITY OF ROHNERT PARK SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES April 18 , 1991 The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in regular session commencing at 3 : 00 p.m. at Codding Center, 100 Enterprise Drive, Rohnert Park, with Chairman Chase presiding. Call to Order Chairman Chase called the regular session to order at approximately 3 :00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call Present : (5) Commissioners Jennis , Jurgiel , Lyons , Chase, and Kennedy Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon, Program Assistant , Wendy Audiss and Councilwoman Spiro. Approval of Minutes Upon a motion by Commissioner Kennedy and seconded 110 by Commissioner Jennis, the minutes of March 21 , 1991 were approved by the following vote: AYES : (5) Commissioners Jennis , Jurgiel , Lyons , Chase , and Kennedy. NAYES : None Adding Non- Agendaed Items None Acknowledging Posting of the Agenda Chairman Chase stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda as required by law in three (3) public locations within the time period required. Unscheduled Public Appearances None Communications Chairman Chase sent a letter to the City Council regarding the Enterprise and Hunter Drive intersection concerns . Discussion followed regarding new city street signs , rent control and • benches . Scheduled Public Appearances None Paae - 1 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes 11, April 18 , 1991 Older Americans Month Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon, advised the Commission of Older American' s month festivities to be held following next month' s meeting . Senior Activities Update Program Assistant Audiss gave information on Drop- In Center figures , Senior Expo at the Sonoma County fairgrounds , tea dances , fashion shop, and the Senior Center Board of Directors . She also stated Lee Jurgiel is our Sonoma County Volunteer being honored at the Red Lion Hotel next week. Commissioner Jennis Commissioner Jennis announced Diane Tompkins visit to "Fun with Flo" class to discuss the healthy cities project . Councilwoman Spiro gave an overview of the project . Hazel Brubaker Talked about a site visit by Health Department inspectors and how pleased they were with the site . S .N.A. P. will be inspected next week by Area Agency on Aging . She would like to see a committee formed to have a "Senior of the Year" who would be recognized by the City Council . Discussion followed. Ms . Brubaker announced start of weekend meal program. Proposal Chairman Chase read a bulletin discussing Medicare and Social Security cuts and waste in government spending . He proposed a letter stating that legislators pay increases be limited to the same percentage as Social Security increases . Flagpole A flagpole will be installed later this month with a flag-raising ceremony to follow in May . Meeting Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard, a motion was made by Commissioner Jennis at approximately 3 : 45 p .m. to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Commissioner Jurgiel and unanimously approved.
