1992/01/16 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes • CITY OF ROHNERT PARK SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES January 16 , 1992 The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in regular session commencing at 3:00 p.m. at Codding Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Chairman Chase presiding. Call to Order Chairman Chase called the regular session to order at approximately 3 : 00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call Present : (4) Commissioners Jennis, Jurgiel , Kennedy, and Chase Absent : (1) Commissioner Lyons Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Program Specialist , Wendy Audiss , and Senior Scheduler , Vicki Wilkerson. Approval of Minutes The minutes of November 21 , 1991 were approved by 411 the following vote : AYES: ( 4 ) Commissioners Jennis , Jurgiel , Kennedy , and Chase NAYES : (0) None Adding Non- Agendaed Items None Acknowledging Posting of the Agenda Chairman Chase stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda as required by law in three ( 3) public locations within the time period required. Unscheduled Public Appearances None Communications Chairman Chase wrote to the City Council regarding water/sewer rates to see if discount rates for seniors were available. On December 3 he received a letter from the Council stating that the city offers a discount program of 20% for qualifying seniors . Unscheduled Public Appearances Betty Ferra told the Commission she was interested in getting different commissions together to discuss having art in public places . Communications Chairman Chase discussed the importance of writing letters regarding problems at the local level and in general . Commissioner Lyons Arrives Commissioner Lyons arrived at 1 : 15 p.m. Program Specialist Report Program Specialist Audiss gave Drop-In Center attendance figures and explained the video camera usage for next week's Women' s History month, discussed facility usage for town hall meeting , and gave an update on the Fashion Show, April 11 , computer classes and Older American's month in May. III Matters from the Commissioners Commissioner Jennis reviewed the responsibilities of the Senior Advisory Commission. Discussion followed pertaining to some of the misconceptions surrounding the Commission, i .e. , people thought it was a "closed" meeting. Senior Scheduler Senior Scheduler Wilkerson gave reports on the Tea Dance Committee ( attendance 102 at last dance) and the Baking Committee and thanked those volunteers . Discussion followed regarding free services committee. General Discussion Discussion was held regarding water rates and the general plan meetings . Senior Scheduler Funding Recreation Supervisor Hanlon asked seniors to write letters to the County Board of Supervisors regarding Senior Scheduling funds and possible 410 reductions in the city's current amount with the advent of another senior center applying for funding . Page - 2 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes March 19, 1992 Meeting Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard, a motion was made by Commissioner Jennis at approximately 1 : 55 p .m. to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Commissioner Jurgiel and unanimously approved.
