SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
May 21 , 1992
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the
City of Rohnert Park met this date in regular
session commencing at 1 : 05 p .m. at Codding Center,
6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park , with
Chairman Chase presiding .
Call to Order Chairman Chase called the regular session to order
at approximately 1 : 05 p .m. and led the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Roll Call Present : (3) Commissioners Jurgiel , Lyons , and
Chase
Absent : (1 ) Commissioner Jennis
Late: ( 1 ) Commissioner Kennedy
Staff present for all or part of the meeting :
Recreation Supervisor , Mary Hanlon, Program
Specialist , Wendy Audiss , and Senior Scheduler ,
Vicki Wilkerson.
Acknowledging
Posting of
the Agenda Chairman Chase stated that the
Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda as
required by law in three (3 ) public locations
within the time period required.

Public
Appearances Field Representative, Tony Hartman, from Senator
Milton Mark ' s office asked seniors to help with
telephone work for Mark ' s campaign. He outlined
some of the particular areas pertaining to seniors
that the senator was involved in.
Communications None
Senior
Scheduler Senior Scheduler Wilkerson introduced the "Are You
Prepared" program flyer and discussed its purpose
for times of disaster . Seniors are to see Vicki
for further information. Discussion followed
regarding the "Are You Okay" program.

Specialist
Report Program Specialist Audiss updated the Commission
on Drop-In Center figures , t-shirts , computer
class , excursions , general meeting ( June 4 at 2
p.m. ) , utility discount program seminar, and SSA
seminar .
Matters
from the
Commissioners Commissioner Chase urged seniors to attend
meetings and bring their concerns so that letters
can be written about their concerns . Discussion
followed regarding letters written in reference to
the Senior Scheduler position.
Lari
Jordan Lari Jordan, P.O. Box 1061 , Rohnert Park , brought
up her concerns regarding living on a fixed income
and HUD's slow process in placing people in
affordable housing. The Commission recommended
she see the managers at Country Club Village .
Meeting
Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no
one further desiring to be heard, a motion was
made by Commissioner Jurgiel at approximately 1 : 50
p.m. to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by
Commissioner Kennedy and unanimously approved.

Specialist
Report Program Specialist Audiss reported on the Drop-In
Center figures , art show, the barbecue and
auction, penny jar , recycling , budget items ,
Sunshine Bus charges , and representatives for the
Senior Center Board of Directors .
Supervisor
Hanlon Recreation Supervisor , Mary Hanlon , apprised the
Commission about the discount program for low-
income citizens on their PG&E bills . People
should pick up an application at City Hall to
apply .
Matters
from the
Commissioners Commissioner Jurgiel stated that people coming to
the Rohnert Park Community Center for the Kitchen
Kut-Up show stated they would like to have
postcards of the Community Center and Performing
Arts Center . Discussion followed regarding the
upcoming wine center and the probability that they
will have postcards of Rohnert Park .
Discussion was held on shopping carts that are
left around town .

Lyons Leaves Commissioner Lyons left the meeting at 1 : 43 p .m.

Lyons Returns Commissioner Lyons returned to the meeting at 1 : 45
p .m.
Are You
Okay? Program Specialist Audiss reported that the "Are
You Okay" system had alerted Public Safety to a
person who had fallen and couldn' t get up .
Lari
Jordan Lari Jordan, 7609 Burton Avenue, P.O. Box 1061 ,
Rohnert park , discussed her concerns with HUD and
lack of replies from the legislators .

Lyons Leaves Commissioner Lyons left the meeting at 1 : 59 p .m.

Lyons Returns Commissioner Lyons returned to the meeting at 2 : 01
p .m.

Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no
one further desiring to be heard, a motion was
made by Commissioner Kennedy at approximately 2 : 07
p.m. to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by
