SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
May 20 , 1993
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of
Rohnert Park met this date in regular session
commencing at 1 : 00 p .m. at Codding Center, 6800 Hunter
Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park , with Chairman Chase
presiding.
Call to Order Chairman Chase called the regular session to order at
approximately 1 : 00 p .m. and led the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Roll Call Present : (5) Commissioners Chase, Jennis , Jurgiel ,
Kennedy and Lyons
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Program
Specialist , Wendy Audiss , Senior Scheduler , Vicki
Wilkerson, and Councilwoman Spiro.
Approval of
Minutes The minutes for the meeting of March 18th were
corrected to show the Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss ,
• was present for the meeting and were approved as
corrected .
Acknowledging
Posting of
the Agenda Chairman Chase stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had
posted the Agenda as required by law in three (3)
public locations within the time period required.

Appearances None
Communications Chairman Chase reviewed a letter he'd written regarding
Social Security recipients losing their cost of living
allowance.
He also reviewed replies he had received from Senator
Barbara Boxer regarding rental value of homes being
included as taxable income and from Senator Dianne
Feinstein and Representative Lynn Woolsey regarding
Social Security benefits changes .
Chairman Chase advised he has started a letter
regarding the City's budget deficit and the cuts being
considered. Discussion followed regarding cuts at the
Senior Center and collecting dues .
• Councilwoman Spiro advised the City Council will be
having more hearings and offered to speak to the City
Manager regarding the seniors . She spoke some about

the deficit and suggested the seniors approach the City
Council regarding suggested cuts .
The Commissioners discussed writing a letter to the
City Council regarding the cuts or whether they should
attend the council meeting to express their concerns .
Program
Specialist
Report Program Specialist Audiss updated the commission on the
clothing sale which raised $544 and on the art show and
sale scheduled for June 26.
Senior
Scheduler
Report Senior Scheduler , Vicki Wilkerson , updated the
Commission on the most recent tea dance which made a
profit of $142 . 60 . She also spoke to the Commission
about how important it was for the City to know what
the seniors do .
Meeting
Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one
further desiring to be heard, the meeting was adjourned
at approximately 1 : 55 p .m. to a sing-a-long and
refreshments in honor of Older Americans month.
