1993/09/16 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes CITY OF ROHNERT PARK SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES September 16 , 1993 The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in regular session commencing at 1 : 00 p .m. at Codding Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park , with Chairman Chase presiding . Call to Order Chairman Chase called the regular session to order at approximately 1 : 00 p .m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance . Roll Call Present : (5) Commissioners Chase, Jennis, Jurgiel , Kennedy and Lyons Staff present for all or part of the meeting : Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon; Program Specialist , Wendy Audiss ; Senior Scheduler , Vicki Wilkerson ; and Councilwoman Linda Spiro . Approval of Minutes A motion to accept the minutes for the meeting of July 15th as written was made by Commissioner Kennedy , 411 seconded by Commissioner. Dennis and unanimously approved . Acknowledging Posting of the Agenda Chairman Chase stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda as required by law in three ( 3) public locations within the time period required. Unscheduled Public Appearances Liz Cochran, Coordinator for the Petaluma Office of the Sonoma County Volunteer Center , described the agency ' s purpose and function . Hazel Brubaker , Senior Nutrition site manager , stated that she was expecting City Manager Joseph Netter and asked if this portion of agenda could be delayed until his arrival . The Commission concurred . Communications Chairman Chase read past letters that he had written to the Council and the responses the Council had given regarding the Commission ' s request to expand the Senior Center into the C.O.Y.F. portion of Codding Center . 411 Page - 1 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes September 16 , 1.993 411 Chairman Chase also gave tips on how to best write a letter to an elected official . Program Specialist Report Program Specialist , Wendy Audiss , reported on the following : Drop- In Center ' s attendance for July and August , 2 , 304 & 2 , 404 respectively; the barbecue and auction ( $100 profit plus $700 of paper products ) ; Baja Cruise; Alaskan Cruise; Indian Bingo ; attendance of all August events at the Senior Center ( 40 different programs with 4 , 610 participants ) ; sing-a- long following today ' s meeting; and a Social Security informational meeting to be held on October 15 at 1 : 30 p .m. Senior Scheduler Report Senior Scheduler , Vicki Wilkerson , reported on the following: tea dance proceeds ($632 for July , August and September) ; upcoming Moonlighters ' tea dance; baking committee update; and decoration committee update . Matters from Commissioners Commissioner. Lyons introduced Councilwoman Spiro who described her role as it pertains to the Senior Advisory Commission . She also announced the Rotary ' s garage sale and stated some items that might be of 410 interest to seniors had been donated . Hazel Brubaker There being no further business , Hazel Brubaker requested that since the City Manager was still not at the meeting if Councilwoman Spiro would contact the City Manager so that the meeting could be rescheduled . Hazel declined to discuss her issue until the City Manager was in attendance . Discussion followed on the issue of the Senior Center expansion and what the next course of action should be . A sign-in sheet will go around with a request that the meeting with the City Manager be rescheduled . Councilwoman Spiro Leaves At 1 : 25 p.m. , Councilwoman Spiro called City Hall to follow up on the City Manager ' s whereabouts as he had stated to her as well that he would be at today ' s meeting . Councilwoman Spiro Returns At 1 : 30 p .m. Councilwoman Spiro stated that City Hall said the City Manager had left word that he was planning on being at the meeting as well . 11111 Page - 2 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes September 16 , 1993 III Meeting Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard, Commissioner Jennis made a motion for adjournment at 1 : 32 p .m. which was seconded by Commissioner Jurgiel .
