SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
January 19, 1995
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met
this date in regular session commencing at 1:00 p.m. at the Rohnert Park
Senior Center,6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A,Rohnert Park, with Chairman
Chase presiding.
Call to Order Chairman Chase called the regular session to order at approximately 1:00 p.m.
and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call Present: (4) Commissioners Brubaker,Chase, Kennedy,and Lyons
Late: (1) Commissioner Jurgiel
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Supervisor,Mary
Hanlon; Program Specialist,Wendy Audiss; Senior Scheduler, Vicki
Wilkerson; and City Councilwoman,Linda Spiro.
Approval of
Minutes A motion was made to accept the minutes for the meeting of November 17
was made by Commissioner Kennedy,seconded by Commissioner Lyons and
unanimously approved.
Chair Elections Commissioner Kennedy nominated Commissioner Chase to be the Chairman
which Commissioner Lyons seconded and was unanimously approved.
Commissioner Chase nominated Commissioner Kennedy for Vice-
"! which Commissioner Lyons seconded and was unanimously
approved. Chairman Chase officially welcomed Hazel Brubaker to the Senior
Advisory Commission.
Acknowledging
Posting of
the Agenda Chairman Chase stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda
as required by law in three(3)public locations within the time period
required.
Oath of Office Recreation Supervisor Hanlon administered the Oath of Office to
Commissioners Brubaker and Chase.

Jurgiel Arrives/
Oath of Office At approximately 1:07 p.m., Commissioner Jurgiel arrived and Supervisor
Hanlon administered the Oath of Office.
Unscheduled
Public
Appearances Monse Speer discussed a concern she had over how she was treated by a
physician. She wanted seniors to be aware of their rights as patients and their
right to questions a doctor's orders. Chairman Chase suggested an article in
the SCAN and the local paper.

• City Council
Liaison Report Councilwoman Spiro stated she had given a report to the Council on the
Senior Center activities. Chairman Chase asked about volunteers for seniors
during an emergency. Councilwoman Spiro will follow up. Councilwoman
Spiro updated the Commission on her proposal for a Community Foundation
in Rohnert Park. She explained how United Way funds were dispersed.

Program
Specialist
Report Program Specialist,Wendy Audiss,updated the Commission on the following
activities: Holiday Open House,Dance Party,clothing sale January 27 &28,
Health Faire on May 13, and key chains with the Senior Center's new phone
number. December program attendance was 4,488,rental attendance was
1,352,Sunshine Bus attendance was 187, and excursions attendance was 111.
Revenues from the programs was$2,489.52 and revenues from rentals was
$954.
Senior
Scheduler
Report Senior Scheduler, Vicki Wilkerson.,reported the November 20th dance had
217 in attendance and a profit of$515.09,the December 13th dance had 112
in attendance and a profit of$187.21,and the January 10th dance had 97 in
attendance with a profit of$135.07. The Baking Committee donations for
November were $86.12 with expenses of$22.08,and the donations for
December were $61.09 with expenses of$15.69.
Matters fruit
Commissioners Chairman Chase informed the Commission that there may be some changes in
Medicare. Commissioner Brubaker clarified that these changes will mainly
affect the "wealthy"seniors. Chairman Chase will write a letter to Congress.
Commissioner Jurgiel brought up concerns of graffiti and crime in the
community and urged everyone to do their part.
Meeting
Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be
heard,Commissioner Kennedy made a motion for adjournment at 2:07 p.m.
which was seconded by Commissioner Brubaker and unanimously approved.
