SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
September 21, 1995
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this
date in regular session commencing at 1 p.m. at the Rohnert Park Senior Center,
6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Chairman Chase presiding.
Call to Order Chairman Chase called the regular session to order at approximately 1 p.m. and led
the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call Present: (5) Commissioners Brubaker, Chase, Jurgiel, Kennedy and Lyons
Absent: (0) None
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon;
Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss; and Senior Scheduler, Vicki Wilkerson.
Approval of
Minutes A motion was made to accept the minutes for the meetings of July 20 and August
24 was made by Commissioner Kennedy, seconded by Commissioner Lyons and
unanimously approved.

4111) Posting of
the Agenda Chairman Chase stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda as
required by law in three (3) public locations within the time period required.

Vest Presentations Lieutenant Baker gave the background on the Emergency Operations Center
located in the Public Safety Department and how the vests will be used.
Commissioner Lee Jurgiel presented the vests to Lt. Baker. Program Specialist
Audiss gave thank-you certificates to the volunteers who sewed all the vests.
Chief Rooney arrived, was shown the vests and thanked all who made them.
City Council
Liaison Report Councilwoman Spiro was unable to attend due to the death of her mother.
Communications Chairman Chase wrote a thank-you letter to the City Council thanking them for
hiring Senior Scheduler, Vicki Wilkerson, full-time.
Program Specialist
Report Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss, updated the Commission on the following
activities: the barbecue/auction which saved the City over $1,000 in paper
products; the general meeting on September 26 at 1:30 p.m.; the shopping cart
party on September 29 at 2 p.m.; Sizzler Fun Night on October 10; and the

Tupperware Party on October 26_ The August statistics for attendance were 5,203
for department activities and 1,201 non-department. One hundred ninety five
people were given rides on the Sunshine Bus, 151 on excursions for a total of 698
miles. Fees were $5,245.44 for August and rentals were $1,172.28.
Senior Scheduler
Report Senior Scheduler, Vicki Wilkerson, reported the attendance was 387 for 3 dances
held on July 23, August 8 and September 12 with revenues of$1,062.89. Some
dances will also be tried on Saturdays with the first one scheduled on September
30 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center. Cash donations for July - September
for the Baking Committee were $52.20 and food staple donations for September
were valued at $17.34,
Matters from
Commissioners Chairman Chase asked Bob Weinmann to update everyone on the Medicare and
A.A.R.P. and to announce the upcoming meeting at the Senior Center on
September 29 at 10 a.m. Chairman Chase urged seniors to write letters to their
representatives.
Commissioner Jurgiel discussed the letter she had written to the Community Voice
regarding the shopping cart problem. Discussion followed on the shopping cart
problem.

Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard,
Commissioner Kennedy made a motion for adjournment at 1:45 p.m. which was
seconded by Commissioner Jurgiel and unanimously approved.
