SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
March 21, 1996
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this
date in regular session commencing at 1:00 p.m. at the Rohnert Park Senior
Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Vice-Chair Kennedy
presiding.
Call to Order Vice Chair Kennedy called the regular session to order at approximately l:00 p.m.
and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call Present: (4) Commissioners Brubaker, Jurgiel, Kennedy and Lyons
Absent: (1) Commissioner Chase
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon;
Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss; and Councilwoman Linda Spiro.
Approval of
Minutes A motion was made to accept the minutes for the meetings of January 18 was
• made by Commissioner Brubaker, seconded by Commissioner Kennedy and
unanimously approved.
Acknowledging
Posting of
the Agenda Vice Chair Kennedy stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda as
required by law in three (3) public locations within the time period required.

City Council
Liaison Report Councilwoman Spiro reported that she was still working on the golf course item
that was previously discussed.
A discussion followed on ways to recruit volunteers to drive meals to homebound
seniors as the SNAP program has doubled in size since last year. Commissioner
Brubaker will write a letter to the City Council asking for their support.

Program Specialist
Report Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss, updated the Commission on the following
activities: revenues for the clothing sale were $400; Fun Nights at the various
restaurants are going well; a partnership for scenic trips has been established with
Jim's Journeys and Trips for you; a picnic table will be installed on the west side of
the building in the courtyard area. a candidate's social for Superior Court Judge
will be held at the Senior Center on March 22 at 2 p.m.; in May there will be a
brunch sponsored by the Police Officers Association preceded by a walk; semi-
annual bingo party scheduled for May 18; and flea market scheduled for April 19
and 20.
Discussion was held on whether or not to invite the autobiographical writing class
to read some of their works at the May Senior Advisory Commission meeting. It
was agreed they would be invited.
In February the department attendance at events was 5,663 and non-department
attendance was 1,355. The Sunshine Bus had 171 riders and 141 went on
excursions. The revenue for the month was $4,178.54.
Senior Scheduler
0 Report Vicki Wilkerson, Senior Scheduler, updated the Commission on the following
events: There were 1,467 in attendance at the last three dances with revenues
being $3,701.04; the baking committee had no expenses; 155 tickets were sold for
the Super Bowl Party with the revenue being $1,165; the Talent Show sold 182
tickets with $1,138 in revenues; the Fashion Show had approximately$960 in
revenues with 18 stores involved; the Holiday Dinner Dance is scheduled for
December 15.
Matters from
Commissioners Commissioner Brubaker stated the Representative Lynn Woolsey would not be
able to attend the May Senior Advisory Commission meeting.
Recreation Supervisor
Report. Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon, reported to the Commission that the City
had been successful in securing grant funding for the Senior Scheduler position and
that there was a new Senior Assemblyman named Frank Bailey.
Anita Samson Anita Samson introduced herself. She is from the Green Thumb program and is
vice-president of A.A.R.P.

Meeting
Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard,
Commissioner Brubaker made a motion for adjournment at 1:46 p.m. which was
seconded by Commissioner Jurgiel and unanimously approved.
