1996/05/16 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes CITY OF ROHNERT PARK SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES May 16, 1996 The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in regular session commencing at 1:00 p.m. at the Rohnert Park Senior Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Chair Chase presiding. Call to Order Chair Chase called the regular session to order at approximately 1:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call Present: (4) Commissioners Chase, Jurgiel, Kennedy and Lyons Absent: (1) Commissioner Brubaker Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon and Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss. Approval of Minutes A motion was made to accept the minutes for the meeting of March 21 was made by Commissioner Kennedy, seconded by Commissioner Lyons and unanimously approved. Acknowledging Posting of the Agenda Chair Chase stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda as required by law in three(3) public locations within the time period required. Unscheduled Public Appearances Rick Kaufman asked about resources for a friend who is a senior. Program Specialist Audiss gave him a Senior Resource Guide. He was referred to staff for any further questions. Scheduled Public Appearances None City Council Liaison Report Recreation Supervisor Hanlon reported that Councilwoman Spiro would be unable to attend due to a prior appointment. Communications Program Specialist Audiss read the Council's resolution designating May as "Older Americans' Month." Chairman Chase read copies of the letters he sent to the City Council regarding Council on Aging's request for drivers and their reply. Page - 1 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes - May 16, 1996 0 Program Specialist Report Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss, updated the Commission on the following activities: the April flea market, the May bingo party, and the June country breakfast and quilt raffle. The June events proceeds will go towards patio furniture. The Police Officers Association will also be donating patio furniture. Program Specialist Audiss read a letter from Geets Vincent about the Senior Center. April attendance at the Senior Center was 6,795 with 170 riders on the Sunshine Bus and 119 on excursions. She also previewed a commercial made by Multi- Vision that highlighted recreation department activities. Matters from Commissioners Commissioner Jurgiel asked how the bike bridge across from City Hall was funded. Supervisor Hanlon said it came from transportation funds. Commissioner Kennedy asked about all the parking reserved by the Senior Center for State Farm. Program Specialist Audiss reported that State Farm owns these spaces. Meeting Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard, Commissioner Jurgiel made a motion for adjournment at 1:30 p.m. which was • seconded by Commissioner Kennedy and unanimously approved.
