SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
September 19, 1996
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this
date in regular session commencing at 1:07 p.m. at the Rohnert Park Senior
Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Vice-Chair Kennedy
presiding.
Call to Order Vice-Chair Kennedy called the regular session to order at approximately 1:07 p.m.
and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call Present: (3) Commissioners Brubaker, Jurgiel, and Kennedy
Absent: (2) Commissioners Chase and Lyons
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon,
Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss, and Councilmember Linda Spiro.
Approval of
Minutes A motion was made to accept the minutes for the meetings of May 16 and July 18
was made by Commissioner Jurgiel, seconded by Commissioner Brubaker and
• unanimously approved.
Acknowledging
Posting of
the Agenda Vice-Chair Kennedy stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda
as required by law in three (3) public locations within the time period required.

City Council
Liaison Report Councilmember Linda Spiro advised the Commission that she had added the two
following to the next City Council agenda: (1) suggested a meeting be held
between the seniors and Public Safety so that seniors can better understand what
Public Safety's roles are in the community and (2) issues pertaining to seniors in
mobile home parks. Councilmember Spiro also thanked the Commission and told
them she enjoyed serving as the liaison.
Communications Commissioner Brubaker stated she had been contacted by Representative Lynn
• Woolsey's office. They asked if Representative Woolsey could come and speak
about Medicare to the seniors_ Commissioner Brubaker said okay and then waited

• for a confirmation but none came. She then contacted Representative Woolsey's
office and was told that they had changed the location for the meeting to Valley
Village mobile home park instead.
Program Specialist
Report Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss, updated the Commission on the following
activities: the new picnic table and benches for the Senior Center are almost all
here; the barbecue/auction brought in over$1,000 worth of paper products; the
Flea Market had a$318 profit; the Sunshine Van will be in the Founder's Day
parade; Public Safety will be doing a safety seminar for the Fun After 50 Club,on
October 19 via Hands Across the County; the shrubs in front of the Senior Center
are being removed; on October 26 the Senior Center will be hosting a candidates'
social; on November 9 the Senior Center will celebrate its 6th year anniversary
with a bingo party; and the Center will be selling KZST and Sonoma Express
books.
Matters from
Commissioners None
November Meeting Recreation Supervisor Hanlon advised the Commission that the City Council wants
each city commission meeting televised at least once; therefore, the Senior
• Advisory Commission's November meeting will be held at City Hall so it can be
televised live.
Commissioner Brubaker made a motion that the next meeting be held at City Hall
with future locations to be discussed at said meeting. Commissioner Jurgiel
seconded the motion which was unanimously approved .

Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard,
Commissioner Brubaker made a motion for adjournment at 1:30 p.m. which was
seconded by Commissioner Jurgiel and unanimously approved.
