SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
January 16, 1997
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this
date in regular session commencing at 1:04 p.m. at the Senior Center, 6800 Hunter
Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Chair Chase presiding.
Call to Order Chair Chase called the regular session to order at approximately 1:04 p.m. and led
the Pledge of Allegiance.
Moment of Silence A moment of silence was held for Herb Lyons, Senior Advisory Commissioner,
who recently passed away.
Roll Call Present: (3) Commissioners Chase, Brubaker, and Kennedy
Absent: (1) Commissioner Jurgiel
• Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon;
Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss; Senior Scheduler, Vicki Wilkerson;
Mobilehome Rent Control/Affordable Housing Services Representative, Diane
Tompkins; Assistant City Manager, Carl Leivo; and Councilmember Linda Spiro.
Approval of
Minutes A motion was made to accept the minutes for the meeting of November 21 was
made by Commissioner Kennedy, seconded by Commissioner Brubaker and
unanimously approved.
Acknowledging
Posting of
the Agenda Chair Chase stated that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the Agenda as
required by law in three (3) public locations within the time period required.

Appearances None
Scheduled Public
Appearances Carl Leivo, Assistant City Manager, gave the Commission the history of the mobile
home parks Green Book agreement and rent control ordinances. He also
discussed the effects these have on the sales and purchases of mobile homes. He
provided the Commission with the most recent letters to the mobile home owners
on the issue. Discussion followed on the procedure for disclosure of all rent
control ordinances to prospective buyers.

City Council
Liaison Report Councilmember Linda Spiro stated that she had been reappointed as liaison to the
Senior Advisory Commission with Armando Flores being the alternate. She
reviewed the expansion of the "Are You OK?" program to all residents and said
that the Carrier Alert program would have an update in the future.
Communications None
Program Specialist
Report Program Specialist. Wendy Audiss updated the Commission on the following
activities: December attendance was 6,834 with 160 people using the Sunshine
Bus and 94 participants going on excursions. There was a 20% increase in
fundraisers in 1996. New in 1996 was the Super Bowl Party, the Holiday
Dinner/Dance and the choir. In January there will be a clothing sale and in May
there are lots of activities planned in honor of Older Americans Month.
Senior Scheduler
Report Senior Scheduler, Vicki Wilkerson thanked the City for making her position full
time and the Rotary and Police Officers Association for their help at the Holiday
Dinner/Dance. She handed out information on upcoming programs and reminded
• everyone of the Super Bowl Party on January 26.
Recreation Super-
visor Report Recreation Supervisor Hanlon announced that the Area Agency on Aging was
looking for board members.
Matters from
Commissioners Commissioner Brubaker thanked Linda Spiro for bringing forth issues that pertain
to the seniors. Commissioner Kennedy had questions about reappointments.
Meeting
Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard,
Commissioner Kennedy made a motion for adjournment at 2:05 p.m. which was
seconded by Commissioner Brubaker and unanimously approved.
