SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
July 17, 1997
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this
date in regular session commencing at 1:10 p.m. at the Senior Center, 6800 Hunter
Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Vice-Chair Kennedy presiding.
Call to Order Vice-Chair Kennedy called the regular session to order at approximately 1:10 p.m.
and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call Present: (3) Commissioners Jurgiel, Johnson, and Kennedy
Absent: (2) Commissioners Brubaker and Chase
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon;
Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss; Senior Scheduler, Vicki Wilkerson; and
Councilmember, Linda Spiro.
Approval of
Minutes A motion was made to accept the minutes for the meeting of May 15 by
Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Kennedy and unanimously
approved.
Acknowledging
Posting of
the Agenda Vice-Chair Kennedy acknowledged that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the
Agenda as required by law in three(3) public locations within the time period
required.

City Council
Liaison Report Councilmember Linda Spiro reviewed printed items in the Press Democrat that
stated she was against subsidizing the Senior Center. She clarified that she had not
said this. A video was played of the July 8th City Council minutes discussing the
1997-98 budget. She felt it was important that the Senior Advisory
Commissioners have an understanding of the budget process. She asked that the
Commission take a look at the fees and perhaps come up with some creative ways
• to develop some new revenues.

Communications None
Program Specialist
Report Program Specialist, Wendy Audiss reviewed some new revenue sources such as
sponsors and informational seminars. The June attendance for the Senior Center
was 6,320 and fees collected were $6,084. There were 149 Sunshine Bus riders
and 67 people went on excursions. The spaghetti dinner revenue was $409.78,
and the Tuesday dance revenue was $194.23. August activities are the auction and
exchange students from Japan who will be visiting the Senior Center.
Memorial Bricks Recreation Supervisor Hanlon updated the Commission on how to purchase
memorial bricks for their loved ones and handed out application forms.

Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard,
Commissioner Jurgiel made a motion for adjournment at 2:15 p.m. which was
seconded by Commissioner Johnson and unanimously approved.
