SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
November 15, 2001
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this
date in regular session commencing at 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 6800 Hunter
Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Chair Jurgiel presiding.
Call to Order Chair Jurgiel called the regular session to order at approximately 1:00 p.m. and led
the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call Present: (4) Commissioners Bielecki, Jurgiel, Kennedy and Sampson.
Absent: (1)Ackerman.
Staff and Commissions/Council present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation
Director, Tim Barry; Recreation Services Manager, John Hartnett; Recreation
Specialist, Wendy Audiss; City Council Liaison, Armando Flares.
Approval of
Minutes The minutes of the regular meeting of September 20, 2001 were unanimously
approved.
Acknowledging
Posting of
the Agenda Chair Jurgiel acknowledged that the Agenda was posted as required by law in three
(3) public locations within the time period required.
Unscheduled Public
Appearances None.
City Council
Liaison Report Flores handed out a new progress report on various City projects (attached). He
indicated that there will be a special ceremony on Thursday, December 13 honoring
Jake Mackenzie for serving as Mayor for 2001 and seating Flores as Mayor and
Linda Spiro as Vice Mayor for 2002. With any luck, the Library could be
completed by July of 2002. The Children's Section will have a "mural" that is
being finalized and the Adult Section will have comfortable couches and a fireplace
for added ambiance. Bids for City Hall start in January, 2002 with a goal of
completing the project in one year. The Spreckles Center Information Sign design
is approved and may be installed by January, 2002. The sign will be much more
attractive than the one in Petaluma. Flores also indicated that he would be making
the Commission Liaison assignments in January, 2002.
Recreation Specialist
Report Due to some carpet problems in the Finance Building, they will be temporarily

Holiday Tree Lighting Program
There will be a holiday program and our annual tree lighting event on Thursday,
November 29 beginning at 7:00 P.M. in the Callinen Center. There will be wonderful
music and treats.
City Officers For 2002
Jake Mackenzie will be honored for this year as Mayor, Armando Flores will
be seated as Mayor, and Linda Spiro will be seated as Vice Mayor on Thursday, December 13.
The Special Council Meeting will begin at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers. Refreshments
will be served after the ceremony.
Project Updates
The new library is in full construction. Our facility is starting to look like a building.
Also, the mural for the Children's Section is being finalized.
Plans for the new City Hall were approved by the City Council. The project is
expected to go to bid in January.
Our Spreckles Center Information Sign was approved by the City Council on
Tuesday. It will now go out to bid. There is an article regarding the sign in
today's Press Democrat.
