1998/09/17 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes CITY OF ROHNERT PARK SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES September 17, 1998 The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in regular session commencing at 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Chair Kennedy presiding. Call to Order Chair Kennedy called the regular session to order at approximately 1:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call Present: (5) Commissioners Ackerman, Bielecki, Johnson, Jurgiel, and Kennedy Absent: (0) Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Specialist - Senior Programs, Wendy Audiss. Oath of Office The Oath of Office was administered to Commissioner Ackerman. Approval of Minutes The minutes of July 16th were approved as submitted. Acknowledging Posting of the Agenda Chair Kennedy acknowledged that the Agenda was posted as required by law in three(3) public locations within the time period required. Unscheduled Public Appearances Christina Bell, Rohnert Park Wellness Project, appeared before the commission to explain the project and to request the seniors' support for the project. Discussion followed and the Commission requested that Recreation Specialist Audiss write a letter to the City Council on their behalf supporting the project to be delivered by Commissioner Bielecki to the Public Hearing. Scheduled Public Appearances None City Council Liaison Report None Communications None Page - 1 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes - September 17, 1998 • Recreation Specialist Report Recreation Specialist Audiss reported on the Mural Project, the Candidates' Social scheduled for city council candidates on October 10, and the August fundraisers including the auction, the choir concert and the dance. The Commission also discussed the possibility of combining with the Parks and Recreation Commission in the future due to problems with getting seniors for the Senior Advisory Commission. Since the Commission currently has five commissioners, this was briefly discussed and then tabled. Matters from Commissioners The Commission welcomed the newest Senior Advisory Commissioner, Marion Ackerman.
