SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
May 21, 1998
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this
date in regular session commencing at 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 6800 Hunter
Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Vice Chair Kennedy presiding.
Call to Order Vice Chair Kennedy called the regular session to order at approximately 1:00 p.m.
and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call Present: (5) Commissioners Bielecki, Johnson, Jurgiel, Kennedy, and Weinmann
Absent: (0)
Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Supervisor, Mary Hanlon;
Program Specialist - Senior Programs, Wendy Audiss; Senior Program Assistant,
Vicki Wilkerson; and Councilmember, Linda Spiro.
Oath of Office The Oath of Office was administered to Commissioners Bielecki and Weinmann.
10 Appointment of
Chair and Vice Chair Commissioner Johnson nominated Commissioner Kennedy as Chair which was
seconded by Commissioner Bielecki and unanimously approved.
Commissioner Jurgiel nominated Commissioner Johnson as Vice-Chair which was
seconded by commissioner Bielecki and unanimously approved.
Approval of
Minutes The minutes of March 19th were approved as submitted.
Moment of Silence A moment of silence was held for Clifford Concello who recently passed away.
Acknowledging
Posting of
the Agenda Vice Chair Kennedy acknowledged that the Secretary/Supervisor had posted the
Agenda as required by law in three (3) public locations within the time period
required.
Unscheduled Public
Appearances Gay Carlson, liaison from the Parks and Recreation Commission, was introduced
to the Commission.

Scheduled Public
Appearances Hazel Brubaker requested a memorial brick for Cliff Concello. After some
discussion, the request will be placed on the Commission's agenda for July,
City Council
Liaison Report ('ouncilmember Linda Spiro read and presented the proclamation naming May as
Older Americans' month.
Policy for
Establishing Ex-
Officio Membership The Commission discussed adding ad hoc members from Cotati and Penngrove
who would be appointed by the commission and if they should have voting rights.
Commissioner Jurgiel made a motion to recommend amending the resolution to
allow ad hoc members from Cotati and Penngrove to have voting privileges. The
motion was seconded by Commissioner Bielecki and unanimously approved.
Communications None
Recreation Specialist
Report Program Specialist Audiss reported on the Annual Bingo Party. She handed out
St-shirts to the commissioners for the "Step Out" program, She advised the
following items are included in the 1998-99 budget: a van with a wheelchair lift,
carpeting, outdoor lighting for the patio and HVAC. She informed the
commission of the retirement party for former commissioner, Hazel Brubaker.
Senior Center attendance figures for April were 5,855 attendance with fees of
$3,240.22 collected. The Sunshine Bus had 159 passengers and 66 seniors went
on excursions. She announced that the activity room is being painted and the
Salvation Army Brown Bag Program will begin in Rohnert Park in June on the
second and fourth Wednesdays.
Matters from
Commissioners Commissioner Wcinmann said he was honored and complimented to be on the
Commission.
Commissioner Johnson welcomed the new commissioners.
Recreation Supervisor
Report Recreation Supervisor Hanlon welcomed the new commissioners. She also
requested that all commissioners notify her three weeks prior to a meeting with any
agenda items

Meeting
Adjourned There being no further business to discuss and no one further desiring to be heard,
Commissioner Jurgiel made a motion for adjournment at 1:45 p.m. which was
seconded by Commissioner Weinmann and unanimously approved.
