2003/07/17 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes CITY OF ROHNERT PARK SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES July 17, 2003 The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in regular session commencing at 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Chair Todd presiding. Call to Order Chair Todd called the regular session to order at approximately 1:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call Present: (5) Commissioners Tringali, Todd, Cassinelli, Kral, and Kennedy Absent: (0) Staff present for all or part of the meeting: Recreation Specialist Wendy Audiss, City Council liaison Armando Flores, Recreation Coordinator Vicki Wilkerson, Park and Recreation Commission Liaison Bill Butler. Approval of Minutes The minutes of the regular meeting of May 15, 2003 were unanimously approved as submitted. Acknowledging Posting of the Agenda Chair Todd acknowledged that the Agenda was posted as required by law in three (3) public locations within the time period required. Unscheduled Public Appearances None Scheduled Public Appearances None City Council Liaison Report Armando Flores spoke about the Capital Improvement Projects—handed out a list. Information on projects completed, in process, and scheduled for this year. Page- 1 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes July 17, 2003 Park & Rec Liaison Bill Butler introduced himself. He and Gay Carlson are the liaisons. Bill is available for questions, etc. Recreation Specialist Wendy reported that we had a worm in our computers, Valerie Marsh fixed them, but due to other commitments she is no longer available to teach in our lab. The Senior Center Flea Market earned over $200. Our annual No Money Auction will be held in August. Monthly casino day trips are going well, busses are always full. Senior Center attendance for June was 7, 173 (includes rentals). Revenues for June were $5,245.94, which includes $1,115 of newsletter subscription renewals. There were 89 passengers on the Sunshine Bus. See attached for complete breakdown of June statistics. Rec. Coordinator Vicki reported that the final profit for the Black & White ball was $6,635.72. She thanked her volunteers for all of their work and support. Dorothy Kral was a sponsor, along with Pat Eckert. The Choir concert on June 21 at the Senior Center was wonderful, and raised $634. Bake sale made $209, thanks to Pat Eckert who heads up the baking committee. Auditions begin in August for the Variety Show (Nov. 8 at PAC). Theme is USO Canteen, Hollywood and Overseas (WWII). For fiscal year 02-02 we had 5,780 units of service (contracted for 4,000), and had 2,567 unduplicated seniors (contracted for 2,000). Matters from Georgia Todd had received a letter from Tim Barry, letting her know of his new position with the Livermore Park & Recreation District. Commissioners There will be a memorial service for Ray"Popeye" Bell here at the Senior Center on Friday, August 1 at 10:00am. Kitchen Kut Ups performances are now going on at PAC.
