2006/09/21 Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Minutes P CITY OF ROHNERT PARK SENIORCITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES September 21,2006 The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in regular session commencing at 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, with Chair Ackerman presiding. Call to Order Chair Ackerman called the regular session to order at approximately 1:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call Present(5)Commissioners: Ackerman, Ferra, Cassinelli,Hawker, and Sampson Staff present: Senior Center secretary Berni Altman City Council Liaison Armando Flores Approval of The minutes of the January 19,2006 meeting were approved as Minutes submitted. Posting of Secretary Sampson acknowledged that the agenda was posted as required the agenda by law in three(3)public locations within the time period required. Unscheduled Public Appearances None City Council Armando Flores handed out an update report. A new roof was installed Liaison at Callinan Sports Center which will be appreciated this winter. Equally Report important is the installation of new exercise equipment that will keep our citizens fit and in good health. The city has purchased an existing building near the present City Hall and will remodel it according to"green standards"to avoid the high cost of building a new building. As an emergency measure the Council voted to restrict the conversion of apartment complexes to condominiums. There is concern that residents will suffer because of loss of affordable housing. There are problems in the dog park. Misbehaving dogs violate our pet safety policies. If a person is bitten it must be reported. Vicious dogs can be banned by breed in cities. Parks &Rec. Vicki was unable to attend this meeting Report and so the rest of her report was tabled until January.
