Vicki agreed to prepare the flyer for distribution. Recreation Specialist: In Wendy's absence, Vicki handed out a Monthly Report she prepared and went over some of the highlights. Vicki explained that The Area Agency on Aging gives us a grant each year with certain criteria the Center must meet. Example: they require 4,000 units of service a year- the Center had 5,635.5 units; etc. The Center has met all the criteria for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2002. A Life Line Screening program on stroke education was held July 9 with about 10 people in attendance. There will be a preventive health screening session on August 2 — pre- • • registration required. The Flea Market will be on July 19, combined with a bake sale. On August 19, Wendy will hold a Salad Supper and no-money auction from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Senior Programs Coordinator: The Baking Committee — End of fiscal year-$110 in cash donations. Donated supplies totaled $719.75. Donated supplies in June $30.14; no expenses. Year-end expenses totaled 90 cents per month for all the goodies provided, including special events. This is all possible due to the generosity of the volunteers. The Choir Concert was held on June 23. 180 attended; 143 had lunch. A profit of $1,453.50 was realized from both ticket sales and raffles. This was due to the generosity of Pat Eckert who paid for all the food (chicken, potato salad, green salad) and Raley's who contributed a $50 gift certificate and Raley's meat department manger who sold us the chicken at their cost. Vicki thanked Jan Young for her time and talent in producing such a wonderful program. Reminder about the Musical*Comedy Revue to be held at the Scottish Rite Hall on August 3. Recreation Director: Tim reported summer programs are filling up nicely, especially the use of the pools. However, attendance at the Sports Center tends to go down due to lack of air conditioning. Rec Dept. has been shorthanded since John's departure, but other staff members are helping out. South Course is due to open in September— hoping both courses will be better attended after renovation. if tax incentive measure fails, there will most likely be more cut backs all around. Other items for discussion: Ann Kennedy suggested that the Community Center acquire a wheelchair to be kept there permanently and also one at the Spreckels theatre. Tim agreed and will take care of this matter. Adjournment: 2:20 p.m.
