2002/11/14 Senior Center Board of Directors Minutes . • Rohnert Park Senior Center Board of Directors MINUTES Thursday, November 14, 2002 1:15pm roll call Present: Brubaker; McDouall; Kennedy; Fuhs; Sampson; Audiss; Barry; Wilkerson; Tringali; Jurgiel; Cassinelli Absent: Schaeffer Approval of Minutes M/S Elaine/Betty Unscheduled Public Appearances - none **New Business** None **Board Member Reports** Fun After 50: New officers are to be elected. The fair was successful — but changing the date to September. Raising dues from $6 to $8 a year. 4 Mondays in October for total attendance of 372. Dining Site: Wonderful. Thanksgiving meal to be held on 11/21. Congregate dining had 698 participants in October. Gift Shoppe: $698.25 in sales, $70.00 to Senior Center, $543.14.00 in commissions to 25 consignors. There are 55 active consignors, 210 visitors in October. Holding steady with sales. Senior Advisory: No meeting in October. Next meeting is next week. Recreation Specialist: See attached for statistics. Men's restroom is scheduled to be cleaned and painted. We be holding 2 flu shot clinics — one in November and one in December. The activity room floor has been repaired, and instead of costing $5,600, only cost about $400.00 since we had it repaired instead of replaced. Bingo party and Thanksgiving dinner are coming up. Recreation Coordinator: Baking year to date have received $82 cash, with an average monthly expense of$3.38. Year to date supplies total is $285.08. There have been 3 day trips — Sonoma, San Francisco, and Hopland. These three trips have netted the Senior Center a profit of$193.50. There are two "Let's go Shopping" trips scheduled to Santa Rosa, one in November, and one in December. Variety show was a big success. We received donations from AAL, Exchange Bank, Pat Eckart. We made a profit of$2,249.75. Super Bowl Party is on January 26t. Raffle tickets go on sale 12/10, party tickets go on sale 1/2. Tickets are $7 presale, $9 at the door. Recreation Director: Kudos to Vicki and volunteers for the Variety Show, and to Wendy for the Veterans Day event at the community center. The election results are that we have one returning councilmember, and two new ones. The tax measure failed, so we will need to decrease services or get more income. Lots of work to be done at meetings re: budget situation. It won't be easy as there is a big deficit up ahead. Recreation usually is low profile, but Senior Center has strong programs and he doesn't anticipate many changes here. Costco taxes will help, but won't be enough. Development around the stadium is possible, and possibly a restructure in City administration. There was discussion on the Crushers, youth basketball (university of Sports). Loss of school space, Sports & Fitness Center, Junior Miss pageant. **Old Business** none **Other Items for Discussion** Pat brought up the leaves blowing into the dining room. Adjournment at 1:50pm
