2003/04/10 Senior Center Board of Directors Minutes r , • Rohnert Park Senior Center Board of Directors MINUTES Thursday, April 10, 2003 1:15pm roll call Present: Brubaker; McDouall; Kennedy ; Barry; Wilkerson; Sampson; Audiss; Tringali; Cassinelli Absent: Schaeffer; Craft Shoppe Approval of Minutes MIS Elaine/Betty Unscheduled Public Appearances - none **New Business** Rummage Sale on April 18. Bingo Party on April 25. Over 60 tickets sold already. **Board Member Reports** Fun After 50:On 4/7 they held a moment of silence in honor of Gussie Sovel who passed away at age 103. 4/14 had potluck on second Monday due to the cook being on vacation on the third Monday. 5 Mondays, 526 total attendance. Dining Site: Doing well. 514 congregate meals. Floor stripped and re- waxed. Gift Shoppe: 218 visitors. 180.75 volunteer hours. $507 in sales. Senior Advisory: no meeting last month. Recreation Specialist: statistics for March were handed out. We have received our video magnifier. We will receive the grant from AAA for 2003-04, only it will be about $1,000 less due to more senior centers receiving grant funding. We have more regular rentals — AA, NA, plus starting in May will have kids kung fu classes three times a week. Recreation Coordinator: Baking committee received $2 cash, $18.45 in supplies. Ann Kennedy continues to bake the birthday cakes. Black & White Ball tickets now on sale. 49 auction items received to date. Centerpieces are done. Choir concert details are being worked out. Recreation Director: Department is being reorganized under the "Community Services Department." This includes Recreation, Public Works, Performing Arts, Housing & Redevelopment. Steve Donley to head this (M. Grice acting head until Steve returns from active duty). May be some layoffs due to deficit — more info will be available after the next City Council meeting. The City is selling the stadium lands, wine center (new restaurant). This will add money to city reserves. Michael Grice is leaving for a new job in Modesto. Carl Leivo is the new City Manager (was Asst. City Manager several years ago). **Old Business** none **Other Items for Discussion** Pat Cassinelli brought up a discussion she had with Mayor Vidak-Martinez re: hungry seniors, and suggestions to help solve this problem. Brown Bag program now is only once a month at the Senior Center, having moved the 4th Weds, pick up to the Community Center. Many seniors do not have transportation. Suggested to get all organizations together to coordinate someone to pickup-deliver for them. Community Fair being developed for early summer, to be held at the new library. Adjournment at 1:50pm
