2003/08/14 Senior Center Board of Directors Minutes 7 Rohnert Park Senior Center Board of Directors MINUTES Thursday, August 14, 2003 1:15pm roll call Present: Brubaker; McDouall; Kennedy; Wilkerson; Audiss; Tringali; Cassinelli Absent: Schaeffer; Craft Shoppe; Sampson Approval of Minutes - M/S Pat/Vicki Unscheduled Public Appearances - none **New Business** Donations and Wish List — a coffee maker for the drop in was purchased from donations received in memory of Ray "Popeye" Bell. We will be purchasing tables from a $500 donation in honor of Gilbert Willis. We'd also like to purchase a new microphone and kitchen cart. **Board Member Reports** Fun After 50: Birthday Party went well. Usual stuff. 4 Mondays, attendance was 421. Their Fair will be Sept. 12 & 13. Dining Site: 177 volunteer hours. 662 meals. 8/15 had a visit from Junior Miss contestants, who sang. Gift Shoppe: 217 visitors. 215 volunteer hours. $79 to Senior Center. Senior Advisory: Councilmember Armando Flores updated the commission on City activities. Recreation Specialist: Statistics for July were handed out. Flea Market made over $200. Auction was a lot of fun. Small number of attendees, but more points "spent" than last year, with 26 items auctioned off. Bingo Party scheduled for Sept. 5. Monthly casino bus trips going well, always full, earning the Senior Center 200-300 per month. Recreation Coordinator: New Fiscal Year! 1,402 unduplicated seniors in July (where we count every participant only once per fiscal year). Duplicated senior count (every time someone participates) was 5613 for July. 463.5 units of service (our contract with Area Agency on Aging), not counting Sunshine Bus, 542.5 with Sunshine Bus. Drop in had 2,812 visitors, with a daily average of 89. Baking committee earned $220 from the bake sale. received $32.20 in supplies. Variety Show tix on sale Sept. 3. The show is Nov. 8, $10 admission. Will have 2 dress rehearsals at the PAC. 8/15 is auditions for new acts. Theme is WWII. Rehearsals begin in October. Variety Friday, formerly Karaoke and More, will include music for dancing on 9/26. **Old Business** none **Other Items for Discussion** Hazel spoke about a house in disrepair in Cotati. Vicki brought up changing the Board of Directors meetings to every other month after Senior Advisory. This change will give staff more time to get their work done, and reduce the duplication of information at the meetings, since many of the Board of Directors are on Senior Advisory. All were in favor of this change. Adjournment at 1 :45pm
