***Board Member Reports***
Reports attached cover months October, November, December, 2004.
Fun after 50: Betty Tringali reported new officers were installed: Pres. Shirley Skeen,
Newsletter, Elaine Sampson. Other board members agreed to continue. The new board
will discuss and decide on an issue to concentrate on.
Dining Site: There were 354 diners served during this period.
Craft Shop: There were 321visitors during this period.
Senior Advisory: Betty Ferra did a survey(copies were given to Board members)
regarding seniors' opinions about the Senior Center and how they feel the Center
should address any of these issues. Vicki responded to one item about volunteer
"personalities"....yes, congeniality is important. But volunteers are here basically once a
week and don't always remember all items asked about and many don't want the
responsibility of knowing all information. Also, some of these complaints are made on
weekends and holidays when staff is not available; our volunteers always refer people to
staff during the week.
It would also be helpful to have a SCAN available on weekends to show activities, etc.
Vicki has had volunteer meetings in the past and would certainly call special meetings if
necessary.
Fundraiser Committee: Vicki Wilkerson presented this report: New ways need to be
thought of to bring in more money. She suggested that all Board members join this
committee and possibly convey more ideas; but Staff is here basically to assist, not start.
The goal should be to have a monthly fundraiser. It need not be as involved as the annual
Variety Show or SuperBowl. She offered the idea of"Movie Day" (which we used to
do), do a raffle, popcorn. Betty Ferra said she has home movies about Alaska, etc., sort
of like a National Geographic film.
There will be a Fund Raiser meeting on Monday, January 31 at 2:30. The primary idea is
to do things for seniors and at the same time raise money for the Senior Center activities.
Recreation Supervisor: Vicki reported on activities/money raised on various activities:
October 126: ShoDaKai Casino made a profit of$167.80 with 44 people participating.
On same day,our used Clothing Sale was held in Suite C. making a profit of$134.50.
The reason for holding the sale in Suite C was due to our being able to rent the Activity
Room boosting the profit for that day to $216.00.
October 20th: Martha's Day Trippers went to Santa Rosa Junior College for lunch, then
visited the Sonoma County Museum, making a profit of$68.00
