SUBJECT: Uniform / Equipment Replacement Procedures
PURPOSE: To establish a standard procedure for the tracking, ordering, and replacement of
uniforms and equipment for DPS employees.
The following procedures outline the steps for replacing uniforms:
I. RPPSOA / RPPSM MEMBERS (Except Dispatch)
a. Uniforms
i. Members of the aforementioned bargaining groups collect an Annual
Uniform Allowance intended for use when replacing articles of the
uniform not covered by the respective bargaining unit MOA; as such,
uniform expenditures are the responsibility of the employee, (RPPSOA
MOA Section 7.20 (a)).
ii. All employees are to only wear approved attire as indicated in the Uniform
Manual while on duty.
b. Equipment
i. Members of the aforementioned bargaining groups will be issued safety
equipment per their respective bargaining unit MOA.
ii. In the event issued safety equipment needs replacement, the member will
contact their immediate supervisor to authorize the replacement.
iii. The authorization will be communicated through email to the
Administrative Sergeant who will facilitate ordering a replacement.
iv. All other authorized safety equipment purchased by the employee will be
replaced at the employee’s expense.
II. DISPATCH
a. All dispatchers will be issued one (1) agency polo shirt and one (1) agency
sweater.
b. Polo shirts and sweaters will be replaced by the agency as needed.
c. Cold weather jackets have been authorized for purchase by the employee so as
long as they are part of the approved attire as indicated in the Uniform Manual.
d. The jacket will be replaced at the expense of the employee.

III. PROFESSIONAL STAFF
a. Professional Staff members will be issued:
i. (2) Agency polo shirts
ii. (1) Jacket
iii. (1) Sweater or ¼ zip sweatshirt.
b. The issued items will be replaced by the agency as needed.
