"Mr. Callinan rioted that the estimated amount of Revenue Sharing Funds for the City is approximately $230,000 for the entitlement period ending September '3O, 1986. City itilanager Callinan stated the City would not. 'know the exact' "ar1ount it would be receiving until after tiie Federal budget hearings. 11i 11 i e Hammi I member of tr e Rohnert Park Cultural Arts Commission asked if any funds wouId be used for the City ,pools. City Manager Callinan responded they would not. Brent "Blackburn, Avenida Cala stated that the Federal Revenue Sharing Funds should be'returned to the Federal Government to ease the debt. iAr. Blackburn also stated that this honey comes out of the taxpayers pockets and is not free money. Pete Podchernikoff, 11.20 Civic Center Drive recommended the funds be returned to the Federal Government since this money comes from the taxpayers and is used for non - essentials. F -ir. Podchernikoff stated he did not feel the Council should have gone to Washington D.C. to lobby for these funds nor should they have written to Assemblyman Doug Bosco to cjork to continue these Federal Revenue Sharing Funds. Revised Sonoma County City Manager Calli nan stated Council had been provided Solid Waste with copies- of the Solid Waste Management Plan, the Hanagement0lan Environmehtal Impact Report, and a letter from the City to the County ' director' of Public Works with recommendations for amendments to the Plan. City Manager Callinan also stated that since the Council had 90 days to act upon Sonoma County's resoloution to approve- the Plan, that Council should first speak with representatives of the Virrounding cities to solicit their"cowlerns in ordeNto present a united front. Councilman Stewart At this point in the meeting, the time being Arrives approximately 7:10 p.m., Councilman Stewart arrived.' Discussion followed. Upon motion of Councilman Hopkins and seconded by Councilman Roberts; Council unanimously approved staff suggestion to meet with representatives of the surrounding cities to discuss the Solid Waste Management Plan in order to present a consolidated resolution. Rohnert Park City Council Minutes June 24, 1985 Proposed Regional Wastewater Advisory Commission ., Planning Director Skanchy Arrives City y janager Cailinan stated that Council had been provided with copies of a letter from Santa Rosa Mayor Schuyler Jeffries proposing an advisory committee for the Santa Rosa Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. At this point in the meeting, the time being approximately 7:12 p.m., Planning Director Skanchy arrived. biscussion followed. It was the consensus of Council that participation in the proposed advisory commission for the Santa Rosa Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant would not be productive. Communications: Communications per the attached outline were brought to the attention of the Council. No action was taken ov, any communication except as specifically noted in these minutes. Rohnert,Business Park Councilman Hopkins requested consideration of a letter from Ivir. William Buchanan of Rohnert- Business Park requesting annexation, of the narrow strip of land fronting on Redwood Drive for the' purpose of cleaning up "the unsightly condition ofthat,roperty. Discussion followed. It was the consensus.of Council to defer this matter until consideration File No. 1041, architectural review of the Press Democrat Publishing Company. Cullural Arts Council Mayor. - Hollingsworth noted that a letter Aad been of Sonoma County received from the Cultural Arts Council of Sonoma County requesting a donation of $1,500. City Manager Callinan recommended that the letter be referred to the Robert Park,C61tural Arts Corporation for handling. Planning Director Skanchy stated that the Press Democrat Publishing Company was requesting Architectural and Site Plan Review for the first phase of a newspaper production building to be located on the west side of Redwood. Drive and north of the City animal shelter. Referring, to map, Planning..Director Skanchy outlined the proposed roposed building and its access routes, and also displayed the materials to be used in construction of the proposed building. Planning Directoir Skanchy also Stated that the Planning Commission hid approQ: the project on a vote of 6-0 as per the conditions of the .staff report. , Discussyn followed. GArge Grogan, engineer at Charles T. Hain was recognized and stated that after completion of the first phase, the ,bujlding would employ 75 people who will be transferred from the Santa Rosa plant. Or. Grogan also stated that future plans provide for 100% expansion. Joseph Tanner, Director of operations for the Press Democrat stated he wanted the design of the building and landscaped area to be attractive to the community.` Mr. Tanner also stated that the signing and landscaping plans would be submitted for approval at a later date. Hr. William Buchanan, owner of the proposed site was introduced to Council. Discussion followed. Upon motion of CouncilHan Hopkins, seconded by Councilman Roberts and unanimously approved, the Press Democrat Publishing Company's Architectural and Site Plan Review application was approved with the conditions recommended by the Planning Commission. Discussion followed. LCC Annual Conference City Hanager Callinan stated that the League of California Cities Annual Conference mould be held in San Francisco from October 6 -9. City Manager Callinan requested Councilmembeirs to lea: hire know if they needed reservations.
