SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, October 19, 2023 12:30pm
The Senior Citizen Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date at the Rohnert
Park Senior Center for a regular meeting to commence at 12:30pm.
1. SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION-CALL To ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chair Pekkain called the meeting to order at 12:30pm.
Present: Jim Pekkain, Chair
Gary Coffman, Vice-Chair
Phyllis Transue, Commissioner
Alice Kibwaa, Commissioner
Debby Mentz, Commissioner
Absent: None
Staff Present: Cindy Bagley, Director of Community Services
Amanda Foley, Community Services Supervisor

Chair Pekkain read the Land Acknowledgment
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES—Approval of minutes for the regular Senior Citizens Advisory
Commission Meeting of July 20, 2023.
Moved/second(Mentz/Kibwaa)to approve meeting minutes for regular meeting of July 20, 2023.The
motion was carried with the following 5-0-0-0 vote: AYES: Pekkain, Coffman, Kibwaa,Transue,
Mentz; NOS: None ABSTAINS: None, ABSENT: None
5. SENIOR CENTER REPORT
a. Community Services Supervisor
i. Senior Center Programs Update
Community Services Supervisor Foley reported out on this item. Foley provided
updates on the Senior Center BBQ and announced two new classes being offered at
the Senior Center. Foley provided updates an upcoming day trips and upcoming
luncheons.

ii. Council on Aging Update
Community Services Supervisor, Foley reported Council on Aging has been serving an average of 20-25
people per day for congregate dining. Foley reported the frozen meal pack pick up serves an average of 40
people per week.
6. CITY COUNCIL LIAISON REPORT
Director of Community Services reported out on this item and provided an update on the new
curb striping and parking"T's" being installed along Santa Alicia and Arlen Drive.
7. PARKS AND RECREATION LIAISON REPORT
None
8. COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR REPORT
a. Building/Project Update
Director of Community Services, Bagley provided an update on Honeybee Pool.
b. Parks and Rec Master Plan Update
Director of Community Services, Bagley provided an update on the statistically valid survcy
and community wide survey.
c. Community Services Staffing Update
Director of Community Services, Bagley announced the hiring of two full time Community
Services Program Coordinators.
d. Special Events
Director of Community Services, Bagley provided updates on the upcoming Halloween
Carnival, Haunt Fest, and Halloween teen dance event.
9. PUBLIC COMMENT
Cheryl Burton made a public comment about the parking"T"enforcement.
