A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK APPROVING A SIGN PROGRAM FOR THE SOMO VILLAGE PLANNED DEVELOPMENT AREA
WHEREAS, the applicant, Leah Tibbens for SOMO Commercial LLC, filed Planning Application No. PLSI24-0025 for a Master Sign Program for the property located within the SOMO Village Planned Development Area, as identified in Exhibit A, in accordance with the City of Rohnert Park Municipal Code;
WHEREAS, Planning Application No. PLSI24-0025 was processed in the time and manner prescribed by State and local law;
WHEREAS, on January 23, 2025, the Planning Commission reviewed Planning Application No. PLSI24-0025 at which time interested persons had an opportunity to testify either in support of or opposition to the project;
WHEREAS at the January 23. 2025 Planning Commission, upon considering all testimony and arguments if any, of all persons desiring to be heard, the Planning Commission considered all the facts relating to Planning Application No. PLSI24-0025.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK DOES RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the above recitations are true and correct
Section 2. Factors considered. The Planning Commission in approving Planning Application No. PLSI24-0025 makes the following findings, to wit:
A.That the proposed location of the u e is in accordance with the objective of the =oningordinance and the pmpo ·es of the di ·trict in which the sign is located, as it pro ides for theinstallation of attractive business signage, civic signs, wayfinding signs, and directory signsthat achieve the objectives of the SOMO Village Final Development Plan and emphasizesthe use of simple timeless durable materials that integrate natural materials, consistent withthe SOMO Village Design Guidelines and municipal code.
B.That the proposed location of the sign and the conditions under which the sign would beoperated and maintained will not be detrimental to the public health, safety or welfare, ormaterially injurious to properties or improvements in the vicinity, as the signs will belocated out of the City right of way, public easements, or vision triangles, will beconstructed of sturdy weatherproof material, and will be designed and installed byprofessionals holding the appropriate credentials and insurance.
Section 4. Environmental Clearance. The project is categorically exempt from the CaliforniaEnvironmental Quality Act (CEQA), Article 19, Section 153ll(a) accessory structures onprem1ses signs.
