A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
RESTRICTING AND REGULATING THE PARKING, STOPPING OR STANDING OF
VEHICLES AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY PARKING LOT LOCATED
NORTH ADJACENT TO 500 CITY CENTER DRIVE
WHEREAS,the City operates a municipally owned off-street parking facility located at
Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, north adjacent to 500 City Center Drive; and
WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 22519 allows cities to regulate the
parking, stopping, or standing of vehicles on municipally owned off-street parking facilities by
resolution, with regulations effective following the posting of signs giving notice of such
regulations or restrictions; and
WHEREAS, Rohnert Park Municipal Code ("RPMC") Section 10.40.040(D)provides
that no operator of any vehicle shall stop, stand, park or leave standing any vehicle in any area
established by a resolution of the City Council as a no parking area indicated by appropriate
signs; and
WHEREAS, RPMC Section 10.40.046 provides that the Council may designate, by
resolution, the hours of the day during which such stopping, parking, or standing shall be
prohibited; and
WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 22651(n) authorizes a peace officer or a
regularly employed and salaried employee who is engaged in directing traffic or enforcing
parking laws and regulations of a city in which a vehicle is located to remove a vehicle whenever
it is parked or left standing where local authorities, by resolution, have prohibited parking and
have authorized the removal of vehicles.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rohnert
Park that, except for permitted City Officials, City employees and Department of Public Safety
guests, parking shall be prohibited Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 am to 7:00
p.m. at the off-street parking facility located north adjacent to 500 City Center Drive.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 22651(n) any
sworn member of the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety and any regularly employed and
salaried employee, who is engaged in directing traffic or enforcing parking laws and regulations
of the City is authorized to remove, or cause the removal of, any vehicle parked, stopped, or
standing in violation of the parking restrictions set forth in this Resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager or designee is authorized to
issue permits to implement the terms of this Resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the above parking restrictions shall be effective
upon the posting of signs giving notice of the parking restrictions.
