OPERATING FOAMPROOPERATING FOAMPRO: The Foampro is an automatic foam proportioning system that injects foam based off of selected percent and current GPM. The Foampro has a few different functions. When turned on the Foampro can read current water flow rate via a paddle wheel flow meter, it can tell how many Gallons of foam have been used since turned on, it allows you to change the percent of foam being injected in to the water, and it can tell how many gallons of water have been used since turned on. In most vehicles the foam is pre-plumed to the pre-connected lines. Knowledge of what discharge has foam will come from pumping the engines and current Engineers and Officers. We will look at how to turn on the unit and how to change the percent of foam. For calibration and problems with the unit see the on duty Officer. TO TURN ON: Step 1. Make sure that motor is on and pump is engaged. Step 2. At this time there should be power to the head unit (you should see the number “0” on the screen) If power is not on to the head unit the master kill switch may be off. This is located across from the rear step on the pump panel side under the body. (see duty personnel for exact location). Step 3. Once power is to the head unit press the red button on the head unit (this will turn on the system and a red led light should turn on confirming the power up). TO CHANGE THE FOAM PERCENTAGE: Step 1. This can be done 2 ways. The first is to just press the up and down arrows and the second is to press the select button 2 times until the foam percentage screen is up. Step 2. Once you are able to change the foam percentage pressing the arrows up and down will increase or decrease the percentage. once you have reached the desired percentage you are done. (Note all department Foampro systems are pre-programmed to be set at 0.3% foam concentration on start up. We have found that this is a good starting percentage for most situations but not all. Practice and experience will give you a better idea of percentages to use). TO TURN OFF: Simply press the red button turning the unit off.
